I've owned and played every BF game from BC2 to 2042 with the exception of Hardline, I didn't like Hardline at all because it didn't look and feel like a traditional BF game, I buy BF games because I want a BF game. 2042 IMO isn't a BF game either so I've pretty much stopped playing it, every week that goes by I play it less (I've not touched it all this week) and I don't miss it because to me it's not a BF game so I don't feel I'm missing out on anything. It's so far removed from a proper BF game that it can't be 'fixed' and suddenly turn into one so I've just excepted that I'm skipping 2042 just like I did Hardline.
If the next iteration of BF is a proper BF game then I'll be back but if not then at that point it'll be totally clear that EA are taking it in a direction I don't like, want or need so that'll probably be the end of new BF games for me, sure I'll play older titles but they will eventually fizzle out and be overrun by 'you know who'. I know one thing's for sure, I won't be pre ordering the next BF game like usual, I'll most definitely be waiting until it's out and see exactly what it is, fool me once and all that.
No other industry would get away with releasing a product without disclosing all of its features, details and specs before release so people are essentially gambling money on it being a suitable product and when it it turns out not to be you are just stone-walled and not allowed a refund, that simply would not happen in any other industry at all, people wouldn't stand for it, the law would get involved. I'm no longer falling for their marketing again, I'll happily wait and see what the product actually is before buying it next time. I don't often gamble £90 on anything, so not sure how i got into that habbit of doing it with BF games.
