EA have gone into full "corporation mode" with 2042.
They don't care about players, but use all kind of commercial metrics, that "should" maximize sales and put players in a loop where they spend time and money on the game (live-service). EA are searching for another FIFA/Apex cashcow and if "misusing" the BF-name brings them that, they don't care about any 'legacy-features' or old playerbase.
BattleBit is everything BF is not these days, and at the moment and it has a lot of success. It has no 'live-service', focuses on being fun to play, is brutal/unforgiving compared to 2042, and also rewards teamplay. There is no wokeness in the chat and proximity chat is just wild (and very fun). This shows that games can be successful, without having a live-service or catering to woke minorities.
We can hope that Dice understands that there is still a market for 'old-school' BF-games (BF3/BF4) and that the 'woke-agenda' speaks to a small, very vocal minority, that probably doesn't really play (/buy) BF-games anyway.
