I don't think much of anything is missing overall. The core is there.
Game is good.
Internets is whining about superficial stuff.
They don't like the Specialist concept even though it is fine and fun and a breath of fresh air. They just don't like the idea of it and that's it not dark and super serious.
Then you have the small map, give me cover every 5m, no vehicles please, 24/7 zerg crowd. That crowd feels like this is an alien BF game. Even though it's really a return to the golden age of BF. They don't know how to play big maps and refuse to help counter vehicles.
Then you have the aggrieved crowd. The types that get all dramatic about a game company ripping them off and demanding this or that or else they won't play the game they bought. This despite the beta, 10 hr trial, refund policies, launch track record, 18 month patch/support record, no gun to the head to buy and thousand of hours of youtube footage starting with the beta to judge the game by.
You have the graphics crowd. They can't take it that the graphics are perhaps are arguably worse overall despite the fact this was a tradeoff to designing a grand epic scale for 2042.
You have the I got more stuff in the last game crowd. These are the bean counters of BF2042 complainers. And their complaints are truly skin deep. They just count stuff. And if the number is lower, they are being ripped off.
Bigger party / squad sizes!
This franchise got famous and loved with teamplay, squads, clans, community. Not with single-player centred battle royale play style. This was always the biggest counterpoint to CoD. Work on big battlefields as a team.
For me this is the biggest game design flaw that explains everything.
increase party size, incentivize team actions (Soflam, Repairs, etc). Give points for team actions. And then implement more content for lvl >100 cause grinding is too easy and non rewarding.
In BF2 you had medals that were hard to get and kept the interest.
Build this for team play. And give us maps, weapons, vehicles, content, content.
And if Portal goes free to ply let players grind there to get cool * in AllOut WF to get them to buy the game. But keep the game handling otherwise it is Firestorm repeating itself again.
