What is the difference between TUGS and proximity sensor?

What are the differences between TUGS and prox sensor? What are the benefits of using TUGS over prox sensor throwable? I am fairly new to the game.

  • @Joshua_Au Prox sensor is, as you mentioned, is a throwable ball. You can lob it into a certain building/area to scan for enemies. It stays there for a little while before disappearing.

TUGS is a sensor that you put on the ground and it scans the area around you. It stays there until you pick it up or it's destroyed by an enemy player.
It doesn't disappear until you pick it up, you die and respawn or enemy player destroys it.
  • @Joshua_Au Tugs stays in one place and spots anyone who’s not crouch walking within its range.

Sensor ball can be thrown, lasts 7 seconds, spots anyone that’s not prone within its range.

@Joshua_Au I like the TUGS a lot more because I can pick it up and keep using it as I move across an objective to spot enemies. Prox sensors are limited in number.
  • @Joshua_Au Tugs seems a little better for defence, sensor balls for offence. You can throw a ball a fair distance and get a snap shot of what enemy are present for a short period. You can’t throw a Tugs, but those are permanent until they’re destroyed so you can set one up in a defensible area and have a good idea who’s coming and it’s persistent, which is pretty handy.
  • In certain game modes/maps, using the TUGS pretty much guarantees you will come in first for assists.  Couple it with Blasco's gadget and prosper.

TUGS are also  very hard to see, so enemies routinely miss it being there.
