What kind of soup sandwich is this?

The server will stop Identifying players by their user name and use generic IDs like Player 50, Player 25, Player 14, etc. When this happens you don’t know who is actually doing the damage to you. If the generic ID changes back to the users name while out of sync with the actual incoming ticks you die instantly from all the damage hitting you at once it seems. What do you think?

  • @SeriousJuJu Doesn’t this sum up the desync? All their bullets hit at once while yours are someplace else. Most of the damage you handed out looked like splash though, but still.
  • @ATFGunr  I think so.  Apparently, I was “Player 49” and the other guy was “Player 27” and after the incoming damage ticks of 57, 58, and 59 I was still alive. It wasn’t until after our names flipped in the damage box to our in-game player names did all the incoming damage register on me all at once.
    I can only assume it was the same for the other guy as you can see his health bar didn’t change much from my incoming damage even though I was getting hit markers. When I died, he was still at 3/4 health on his bar. I play on an extremely low latency connection and it appears as if my incoming damage updated out of sync on the server before he received my hits. The amount of 30mm splash damage the other player took should have killed him before the incoming ticks of 57, 58, and 59 from his pistol registered.

    I’m seeing a lot of strange things going on in game when the incoming damage box only displays “Player ID” numbers instead of in-game names. High latency out of area players should be auto kicked by the system to maintain the integrity of the gameplay/server for everyone.

    @SeriousJuJu It’s high ping that make it so critical to have a server browser, and that excessively high pings are directed to more appropriate servers. One of the benefits of a rentable server is of course the ability to restrict high pings.

    I’m not saying that is all that is going on here. I’d like to know the cause of the “Player 49” ID name change that’s been happening in the damage box and when it switches back to in game names the damage gets applied all at once.

    @EA_Leeuw @EA_Atic ???

  • Give up...there was a thread the same week and a half ago. ZERO response.

    So... no one noticed that the three ticks of instant damage didn't even add up to 100?
