What makes a Battlefield game, a Battlefield game?

@DrunkwoIf 2142 is where it peaked for me, my favourite entry in the series. It is what I think of when I think classic Battlefield, but fundamentally in the core engine and game feel, 2 and 2142 are the same. So to be fair I completely agree.

@nixRidge I also really liked 2142, it had all the basic functions that BF2 had, server browser, classes, commanders, so on and so on.

    Classes with generic soldiers like in the real military (MOS) like let's say in the marines 0331 is a machine gunner, 0311 is rifleman etc. You feel you are one of many.

    Long Range combat along with excellently designed close quarter maps where each class can utilize it's strengths 

    Squad coordination. I've seen where 1 coordinated squad dictates the way the game flows.

    Destruction 

    In that order.

    For me "THE" Battlefield experience is BF3, and I have played since 1942.
