@TAW_RinkoYes, I really wish the game had a proper server browser... Portal is not a server browser.
Launching BF2042 without a proper server browser / persistent servers is a major contributory factor to the epic failure of this game.
The BF player base was never going to accept MM as an alternative and the current player stats speak for themselves.
The mind boggles at many of the decisions they have made with BF2042 and MM is right up there as one of the worst.

For me and I apologize if this seems long.
Dedicated servers are a must have in Multiplayer fps's I've been playing since BF1942 released, it had huge maps like we have now "Running simulator" open sand box with clear objectives. What was different to me was the dedicated servers. It built a community where we would get together and make friends, compete and have a good time.
We would get together on Team Speak laugh and cry so hard. Compete on Team Warfare League.
The soul of the latest games is missing "Last 3 anyway IMHO", replaced with MM and phony dedicated servers and no way for a group of players to play together in a group.
It has no life.
Just and old guys opinion.

You have described the situation perfectly, and judging by the current player stats you are not alone in feeling that way.

Killing dedicated servers "What made Battlefield" and also being able to log on as a group, drove a wedge in the community.

Just look at BF2 and you will have your answer.

I'm not sure what you mean by this?
BF2 hired the Desert Combat mod team to help them create BF2, it was a great game with good balance and maps. Just before release DICE let the desert combat team go. BF2 was a good game I thought.
Or do you mean something else?
- 4 years ago@sk1lld The question was what makes a BF game and I think BF2 is a wonderful example.

@RayD_O1 DICE has been pushing for MM for a long time. In BF3 the console version of the game didn't have a server browser at launch until PS3 and 360 guys demanded it be patched in. Then starting in BF1 DICE started trying to really push MM and it's gotten worse with each entry since, with BF5 almost hiding the server browser and 2042...well we didn't even get on in the main game mode.

Yes I did notice that the Server Browser was almost hidden in BFV but I would definitely still prefer that scenario to the current MM which is just so frustrating on so many levels.
