@carsono311 Resetera on this one something called Bilibili (no idea what it is lol)
I think we need to get back to the old days of just buying a game when it's actually released and playable. All of these reveals, gameplay snippets, and "hey mom & dad, when are we going to be there?"have just created too much in the way of expectations. It's getting absurd really and I wonder if this scenario is another case of EA and Dice and the developers not being on the same page.
- The game is ahead of schedule
- Game reveal in June creating all kinds of hysteria equivalent to a child on Christmas morning
- Then a very minor tease of gameplay that was really nothing more than another minor trailer
- Then short films creating more hype
- Then a short snippet of gameplay
- Then silence eliminating the hype and creating anger.
After BF5, EA must have wanted to pump this game up but were the developers really thinking "hold your horses, we have a lot more work to do"? I feel bad for the developers because with a game of this magnitude they must really have a lot on their plate. Not to mention getting this game to work with old & new gen consoles.
Until they start getting better internal communication in setting expectations as to when the actual game will be ready for consumers this will be a long term losing battle.
When they're sure (or at least highly confident) that the game is ready then do a reveal, show some gameplay, have a beta and then release it.
Not sure how BF1's reveal to release got it so right but it was solid gold compared with BF5's and 2042's marketing and lead up to release. Maybe they knew the game would be ready. Let's get back to that.

@BtheReaper49 Yeah like Rise of the Robots timeline... lol No thanks (I did buy it back then awful game) I agree hyping games years before release cough Wolverine is getting old, but this game releases in 2 months and nothing :S
You got it backwards EA calls the shots not Dice if EA wanted to release this now they could it would be a mess but its up to them they set the deadlines not Dice. The PR or lack off is Also on the publisher not the dev. Dice should be talking aswell though but the main push should be from EA. But for both to say nothing.... its strange PR that's for sure lol. Where as Vanguard beta was awful but Sledgehammer was posting about what they're fixing and working on ect not being silent.
BF1 was awesome how they went from that to BFV I got no clue mass layoffs/walk outs?

@BtheReaper49I would love to agree with you, but those times are not coming back. The ability to create excitement and momentum for an upcoming release is simply too valuable to just abandon.
Blizzard is (or was?) known for taking their time in development and yet they are not derided for their communication or lack thereof.
I personally feel like most of this is due to the expectations they have built up over time. Everyone knows how Blizzard develops and communicates that development, so there is not as much discontent when they are not communicating as often about Diablo IV for instance. Again, this is part of their reputation and as such, was built gradually.
EA DICE could follow a similar path, but they need to commit to something, communicate it, and then hold to it. I think the universal sentiment is that communication is non-exist and thus, terrible. So there is certainly room for improvement. - 4 years ago
The longer there is no news, the more I expect DICE to work hard on implementing mod tools so I can create mods myself and save Battlefield. A new Eve of Destruction, a new Desert Combat, a new Forgotten Hope, a new Pirates, a new Interstate 82... the possibilities are endless! Who needs Portal anyways?!
