Where's the destruction?

Hi everyone,

I'm writing my first forum post here because I'm confused as to whether I have a bug or not.

Simply put, I can hardly destroy anything on the map. Today I even drove around for a long time in a solo game with a tank on the map "Kaleidoscope" and "Renewal" and shot all sorts of things and I couldn't really destroy anything - do I have a bug? I couldn't really find anything about it except game news that there would be widespread destruction in Battlefield 2042.

Regards

  • Hi @Aim2212 ,

    Welcome to the forum!

Regarding your question around "where is the destruction" then unfortunately you are not alone with that question...

The player-triggered destruction and levolution of various buildings and structures on a given map is what made Battlefield famous in the past and also put it apart and above competing FPS games.

Recent Battlefield games had less of this and the player community in general provided feedback to EA to do this better and more for the next game to come out.  And certainly the EA marketing machine were very vocal about that this next BF2042 would be bringing back epic large scale destruction as we had asked for.

And then the disappointment was when we beta tested some weeks back.  Because it was lame and hardly anywhere in the game.  Aka with a tank you couldn't even roll over a small shed somewhere on the map.  Fragile building structures appeared as if being of rock solid titanium steel, and could not be run down or even shot holes in with your sabot ammunition.   Even jets could do no damage on buildings on the ground with their most powerful bombs.

To put it short: It does not appear to be a bug but simply and consciously by EA game design.  EA's marketing machine promised us this in the game.  But its definitely not there.

This is a huge disappointment, as one of the key components what makes Battlefield Battlefield is no longer there.

    Hi @CyberDyme ,

    Thanks for the detailed answer!

Unfortunately, that's a shame and I'm really disappointed, because I found this feature to be the most fun in a Battlefield game. ☹️

  • Yeah agreed @Aim2212 ,

I just spent 1 hour end of last night in BF4 to get some joy back in life after suffering from an hour with dull BF2042 mediocracy...

Try and go back to BF4 and play on one of the high ticket Golmud Railway servers, take your tank to the village area of A and B flags and there you have the classic battlefield destruction and mayhem in all its beauty as it is supposed to be!  😀👍

Several other maps also in BF4 provides same great level of player triggered destruction and levolution.

    Shanghai:  The shopping areas...

Zavod 311, Lancang Dam, Hainan Resort...

It is mindboggling why the EA BF game designers and programmers have not used the Frostbite engine to what it is supposed to give us in a war game like Battlefield 2042.

  • Destruction is coming soon (tm) in the second season, which you have to purchase separately.

I'm joking of course... we won't get it until season 4 at the earliest.

    😀👍

So you mean in season 5 we can buy the Destruction Specialist?

And we will be charged a microtransaction fee by EA every time we want to take down a wall in the gameplay?  😎

@CyberDymeYes, you are thinking like the EA accountant to whom Dice are accountable to.

I am just one of many shareholders in EA.

But I do not like what I see so far.

There is no money to be made if you don't make something people like to play.

And I do not want a one-trick pony.  For microtransactions to work, then there needs to be a stickiness with the customers, so they stay around for the long term.  Hazard Zone does not appear to me to have much depths to offer, as such may die out pretty quick I fear.  And that is just one troublesome area we can observe here so far.  Plenty others in this minefield of EA's BF2042 gameplan.
