Which version to buy for PC

Which version of the game to get for PC. I am concerned about the season pass and battle pass, if I get the standard edition then these are not included.
Will this mean that I don't get certain weapons or miss out on other things, anyone know. I have searched but can't find any info about this. Not bothered about Specialists fyi.

  • @FOG-DaheeeeAs everyone here has already said, you can't miss out on those.  EA have been clear that all versions get exactly the same game.  No paywall.  This fact (and BFV 'Deluxe' Edition sourness) is why I dropped Gold for Standard.  I won't miss the early week given i'm (surprisingly) enjoying Vanguard.

Why EA Ripple choose to leave it this late (*if they ever do) to show and explain the seasonal BPasses in action is anyone's guess; spoiler's maybe?  Though surely they can redact the gun names or blur the piccies and allow customers to choose the game version that actually suits them, without us all resorting to a coin toss... 🤔

  • @FOG-Daheeee Gold version gets you the battle pass, and so far it's been stated "around 12 weapons" tied to the battle pass if i remember correctly, so based on what you said I'd get the gold edition.

The only real difference between gold and ultimate is a few skins and and artbook/soundtrack so unless you care about said skins (doubtful as they're probably tied to specialists) it'd be a waste of money.
  • @FOG-DaheeeeThe Gold and Ultimate Editions' best included perk is the Early Access to the full game starting this week.

Otherwise, @Fringerunner is right:  it is cosmetics. All specialists, weapons, and gadgets will be available to all players as they come out.

@carsono311 I could have sworn i saw a statement somewhere about the battle pass being tied to a few weapons, but i can't find a source now that you made me look so maybe it's all tied to the core version.

Makes me wonder what the point is with the pass, maybe it's more like destiny's pass where you will unlock stuff if you put enough time in, just really slow by comparison.

Either way, I'd probably safe it with gold regardless but in theory, if there's no guns attached exclusively to the pass, regular would be fine aside from missing out on early access as noted above (though i don't count that as a huge deal myself if you're trying to save money)

@Fringerunner Yeah, I agree it is still too ambiguous as to what the "Year 1 Pass" includes...

I have EA Play Pro and Ultimate Edition, so I am all-in regardless... lol

@carsono311 Yea, i got ultimate as well after the first portal trailer (and before we knew about the specialists), but I've generally just gotten the "complete" version as long as they've offered them, so it is what it is even if the skins mean next to nothing.
  • Ty for the replies guys. So Maybe I need to be more specific here.

My plan as with other BF releases is to get the standard edition. I just don't want to miss out on any new maps or game modes. Also I was concerned about the battlepass being the same as in COD Warzone, if you don't have the battlepass then you would miss out on new weapons (not bothered about skins or camos).

There really is no info about this that I can see anywhere on the web.

    Ty once again.

Maps will be free for everyone

It is suggested that people without the pass can unlock specialists and weapons through normal play while people with the pass will possibly not have to. There will be skins that will come with the pass that can not be unlocked through play.

    @FOG-Daheeee
@Noodlesocks is correct. New maps, weapons, specialists, etc. will be freely available to all players.

Now, I read that as you might have to unlock certain things by playing the game, but it is not 100% clear right now how new content will be made available...
