- TrasteTh4 years agoSeasoned Ace@Popa2caps Just a wild guess, but I suspect it is limited - in logic - to just two factions with up to 64 in each, and a BR mode would require anything from 128 "factions" for solos, and 32 for quads.
They obviously have the code for BR like logic in Hazard Zone, so it might not be too far a stretch that they will incorporate that further down the road.
Again, I am just guessing, and it is an uninformed guess at that, so please anyone correct me if you know. - Trokey664 years agoSeasoned Ace
@TrasteThOr.....
And this is just a thought.
The 'community' whinged so much about BR that perhaps they 'listened' and didn't think 'we' wanted it so didn't bother adding the option.
Again, just a thought..... - @Trokey66 You mean "whined," but if they supposedly already have the code in place to do it, and Portal is marketed as a custom game maker, why not be able to if that's what you want?
- @Popa2caps Maybe it will happen but as others have said its likely a combo of wanting people to play Hazard Zone and the fact BR as not been a popular topic among Battlefield fans. Maybe they add it later, but it's probably not a focus at launch,

Why can't players make a BR mode in Portal EA?Hi @Popa2caps ,
We haven't yet seen the full disclosure of all the game parameters and logic switches at our disposal in Portal Experience Creator, so nobody can yet answer definitely YES or NO to your question there.
I would be happy myself to test it out, as soon as we get access to the full game environment. We would in principle be able to create a BF BattleRoyal kind of environment if we can control that players can be blocked from respawning after being killed. Next to this, we will also need the ability to either setup each player in a separate faction, to enable all to be able to kill each other. This we haven't seen any sign off so far, but could be part of an advanced gamemode (aka like team death match, but then limit each team size to just 1 player).
The specific mechanic to be able to switch a player while in live play has typically not been possible in any prior BF game, so we would need to have the mode enabled for multitude of separate teams of just 1 player in each team. That appears at present to be only viable way to construct a BR like kind of gameplay in the Portal.
The only alternative would be if we also would have like Gun Master mode available, in which we again would need to have access to tweak certain game parameters for that to give the BR look-alike mode.
Suggest you bring up the subject when the specs for the Portal Experience Creator have been released.

@CyberDymejust throwing it out there, but they did themselves say you cannot create a BR, maybe it's on the main game page I don't remember exactly.
Otherwise regarding main topic maybe as some have posted or possible maybe there will be something they create themselves in the future I mean never say never, I think the intention of Portal is to be there for a long long time to evolve over time thru multiple iterations of future BF games, I would like to see them repurpose their Firestorm map personally (not specifically for a BR mode ) and maybe they are behind the scenes brainstorming their own possibilities maybe even for that map as well.
So maybe over time it'll happen, maybe they have a concept to come up with a new BR maybe it'll come out F2P, but wasn't something they wanted to focus on for their launch of the game ya know it's a possibility.
Also I think Dev's will be hosting their own version of games in Portal - ApprovedAnonymous4 years agoI can't come to terms thinking EA would be that naive to allow a competitor to offer a gametype that's in its prime, but not themselves. If anyone here invests into video game companies you know one thing, Battle Royales make a ton of money.
I could see that with EA subsidiary Respawn Entertainment that a Battle Royale from DICE could eat into some profits from Apex Legends, but still, I think there is a market for people wanting a modern military first person shooter with a Battle Royale mode.
On the "non-popular topic", I couldn't care less to be directly honest. I game and try to be as unbiased as I can. When I hear someone blasting a video game's gametype it's like hearing kids fight over what console they have, like being brand loyal or something, It's just silly to me. - @CyberDyme Probably gonna struggle with ground loot and/or loot boxes.. and the reduction of play area to push players together…

DICE has that for portal on the website. Can't build Battle Royale modes. - kregora4 years agoSeasoned Ace@CyberDyme Isn't Gun Master in a way a basic Battle Royal mode?
