I think it was the sheer size of 128 people that led to poor scoring and the lack of a scoreboard,It is no longer possible for 2042 to present the old scoring mechanism. All I can hope for now is new content updates, performance fixes, and patient polishing of the motion system.
- edgecrusherO04 years agoSeasoned Ace@GebeeLAoW Man I hope not. I know they had to make a lot of concessions to get 128 players working and I like 128 players but like...increasingly I'm thinking it wasn't freakin worth it. Maybe increase the size of matches but by a lot less if that's the source of so many of these design related issues.

Didn't want to start a new thread, but I too have an issue with the current scroreboard implementation.
Firstly, its great they have at least attempted to introduce a scoreboard, but still its incredibly basic. So basic infact that it suggests that they don't actually have anything from previous games currently integrated into the game.
I say this, because applying a multiplier to kills, deaths, assist, etc, is so basic, that its pretty much worthless, compared to prio stats. Even before i saw the multipliers i could recongise from the low score values, that there scaling and point scoring was border line useless. Having 5-7 players all on 127 points, it pretty rediculous.
Using BF 4 as an example, early starting games scores were between 100-1000. Mid games scores where in the 5000's, end games scores for avg players 8000, good players 12,000 and stupidly good players 13,000 - 18,000. (I admit i play on a regular server, so these scores reflect a consistent and common player base, I.e. i recognised the players, and these score may be different on other servers)
Quite often i would be in the 8,000 - 12,000 bracket, and for the most part i'd have a K/D of 0/14 but through repairs and base capture would be way above people with 20-30 kills for example.
The current multiplers clearly favour K/D over anything else. So if i can't compete against someone with 20+ kills, as a medic or mechanic, then my incentivisation to play is basically zero, and this is just another shooter.
So i really hope that they evolve the points and stats system, because A) its clear they don't have anything at all right now, B) Improving it, or stating that they will improve it, might go some way in building confidence in the game, as of right now. I have zero hope.

@Straatford87 Would love to get an answer from the team on why they felt the needed to make the scoreboard function on an entirely different scoring system that's not reflective of the in-game scoring system that previous games have used.
