omg the rotor blades are annoying in BF2042. I'll go crazy after a few minutes
Similar to the propeller bug we have had for a long time in BFV
And How have they managed to make the graphics worse
Now after you mentioned it I cannot unsee the roter blades anymore. I'll go crazy now too. Thank your for that.
The most obvious "downgrade" is the missing grass. In Battlefield 3 at control point C it is very hard to spot enemies on the ground, because of all the foliage and grass. In Battlefield 2042 you can see everything because there is no grass at all. Also the trees look downgraded in some way. Also, Battlefield 3 had a darker tone to the overall image, BF2042 is super bright.
And if anybody wants to argue it's because of 128 players ... Caspian Border can only be selected in "Conquest" which is limited to 64 players, just like Battlefield 3 and Battlefield 4 🙂
However, I would love to hear from the developers / level designers what's wrong here. Is it a bug? Is this the intended look?
- RaginSam4 years agoSeasoned Ace@an3k Colors seem to be different is what I’m noticing. 2042 looks a little less vibrant in your video. When I’m game 2042 looks really good for the most part and is more vibrant than the past games.
The big change in the new game is the particle effects and lighting. It makes it a lot harder to see and track enemies. Like when you shoot a tank round next to an enemy it kicks up a huge dust cloud. I don’t remember it being that drastic in other BF games.
There’s also a lot of lighting effects. The reflection in the water in your video feels a little extreme. I’ve noticed a lot of lens flares in game as well. It’s nothing new to Battlefield, it just feels more extreme in 2042? I downloaded Battlefield 3 just to create the video, Battlefield 4 was already installed. Video settings were maxed for Battlefield 3 and Battlefield 4 and on High / Ultra for Battlefield 2042. No mods or filters were applied. What you see is the (massively compressed; thanks YouTube) original Battlefield experience of each installment.
Someone from DICE / Ripple Effect wants to answer please?!
I don't think the graphics are that bad in 2042. CB Doesn't look ugly to me at all.
But look at the helicopter behaviour in BF3. So smooth, so fast, so nicely controllable. It's so much fun to lean to the side and dive down to get momentum and then cross the map with high speed so close to the ground (below radar). This gave so much more depth to air to air battles because you actually had some outplay potential.
An then you have the floating bricks in 2042... 😢
Edit: THANKS! Now I wanna play BF3...
@an3k My suggestion is to go load up Planetside 2 on PC or PS. It's free. Check out the graphics compared to even BF4.
I was on PS5. Played over 5 hours after launch last night. I played Caspian Border last night. I was at C flag and it just felt off. I couldn't explain it until this thread. Really, anyone saying BF2042 graphics are good are kidding themselves. It looks like a remaster of a 10 year old game basically, not a brand new next gen experience on a new Frostbite engine.
I do think 128 players is the reason for this. While Warzone does that, BF has to account for a LOT more vehicles and explosions, not to mention the weather effects.
Why do I think this? I've got hundreds of hours into both MAG on PS3 and Planetside 2 on PS/PC. The constant knock on those game from COD and BF players has always been graphics. They can't do the detailed graphics and the massive increase in player count. No MMO has graphics on that level. Not a single one.
What you'll see in Planetside 2 is things like missing grass and lack of detail in a lot of the textures. Buildings will look more plain and standard. None of the detail we are used to in big budget AAA games.Honestly, I came away from Portal very underwhelmed. Am I the only one who feels like BF4's Second Assault DLC was a better taste of BF3?
Second Assault DLC added Caspian Border, Operation Metro, Operation Firestorm, and Gulf of Oman to BF4. It was fan voted from what I recall...favorites from BF3. I never even liked Noshar Canals all that much. Would have rather had maps from the Back to Karkand DLC or Kharg Island.
