EA can you explain to me why I am forced to play with PC players when the game is on Xbox and PS
Me and others I play with have been unable to join a console only server since early March
@VipMuggy666you aren't forced to play with PC players, you have the option to disable cross play and play only with people on your console platform (Xbox or PS). If you can't find a match it's due to extremely low player numbers in non-cross play servers (ie everyone chose to play with cross play enabled) they didn't close the servers. This is where a server browser would help you out if 2042 had one in AOW so all of the non-cross play guys can find a populated server.
Administrative note, if you are on PS4/Xbox One cross play only plays with those two consoles and no other platforms so if you still have one of those you may be happy playing there.
As one who owns and played 2042 on PC/Xbox/Playstation I really don't understand your objection to playing with PC players since everyone is on a rather level playing field in 2042. Console players complain about MKB players despite console players also using cronus/zim on console in console only lobbies and a few PC players complain about aim assist on console controllers. Honestly it all evens out as someone who plays on all three platforms. Your internet connection probably plays a larger role in your deaths than a PC guy on MKB.
Hi @ragnarok013 the problem is due to cross play being the default setting, everyone will be playing with cross play enable, they do not even know that cross play is on, and most people do not even know what cross play is. They end up playing against PC players with mouse and keyboard and end up having a bad experience. So the new console player playing Battlefield for the 1st time will just end up leaving anyway when they keep ending dead by mouse and keyboard players with their pinpoint accuracy from a distance or closeup while jumping and bagging and sliding all at the same time. If cross play was enabled for console only, we would not have the issue of finding servers. Any console player that want to play with their PC friends will know about the cross play setting so they can go into settings and include PC players also.
I do not have an issue with internet connection speed. I play many FPS games and have no issues. I rather play Battlefield 4 than 2042. Playing Battlefield on console against PC players are not fun and definitely not an even playing field, and I play to have fun, as I think most people do. If you like playing with PC players in the same lobby then by all means, but do not force me or most average and new players to do the same. If EA/Dice want to keep new console Battlefield players, they should not include PC players in the same lobby. I have been playing Battlefield on console for many years, and it has been great fun without cross play. I think cross play with same platform is great, but mixing platform types like console and PC by default is a bad idea. The way it is going now, seems I will be playing Battlefield 4 until there are no servers around, then no more Battlefield.
If I knew Battlefield 2042 would be going the forced cross play with PC route, I would have not bought, but to late now for a refund. Only option now if I want to play Battlefield 2042 is to play the Xbox one edition on my xbox series, problem is that the performance is not that great and loading is slow as it needs to wait for other Xbox one players.
@fixatelive I understand your complaint is that cross play is the default, however most people do in fact know that it is on, not only via the various game adverts/announcements but from the squad icons showing a PC or controller. EA's vision is for cross play to be the default mode with the option to opt out (the industry standard right now) rather than segregation being default and opting into cross play. I would not expect this to change in 2042 or any other studio's current cross play title. Most people do in fact seem to like cross play or more would opt out and you'd have a much larger population in non-cross play lobbies. As a multi-platform gamer I think both the accuracy of MKB and the lock on of aim assist has been greatly exaggerated by critics of cross play on both sides of the player base.
That being said I think you should create a clan for non-crossplay in 2042 and see if you can get people from your platform to join. You can make a recruiting post here: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Recruitment/bd-p/battlefield-2042-squad-en

@ragnarok013 regarding the so-called industry standard crossplay, EA should not take that and apply to Battlefield, because Battlefield cannot be compared to other games, that is why we love playing Battlefield. Some games are ok with crossplay, but most FPS games and especially Battlefield cannot be crossplay with console and PC, it is just not a good experience. I also played COD Modern Warfare and the experience with crossplay are better due to the much smaller maps and gun mechanics, but still not fair, so I stopped playing COD. The fact that crossplay is set as the default is the reason why you think people like to play crossplay. From my experience, people will install a game, play it and if the experience is bad, they will just leave and uninstall, very few people will go into settings to look for crossplay (if they know what that is), and because crossplay is on by default, and they disable crossplay, they will not find any servers and they will not play again. If crossplay with PC was not set as the default on console, everyone on console would have played without crossplay and we would have not had all these conversations, because there would have been many populated servers for console players, but now we cannot play Battlefield 2042 because crossplay on by default on console. You mention MKB and aim assist, but it is not just aim assist, there are many differences between MKB and controller and PC vs console performance that affects overall experience.
We have a clan already, but not all members of the clan play together all the time, most of the time many of us, sometimes 2-5, and then sometimes I play solo. We all play on console, but we prefer not to play Battlefield 2042, because we play for fun and BF2042 is not fun when crossplay with PC.
