@x5oldier wrote:Have they talked on why there is not an upgrade option for last gen? I own a Series S and want nothing more than to just play with a friend who isn't in possession of a next gen console. I understand that it is a business and they have their reasons for these kinds of decisions, but, I feel like they are making things a little hard on Xbox one version holders than it already is. I just don't understand why there just isn't a free or cheap option to upgrade a game next gen when you already buy the game for Xbox one.
If you buy the GOLD or ULTIMATE Editions, then you get exactly what you are asking for here!
They both work for both the Xbox One and for the Xbox Series X/S consoles. And you save approx. $18 by buying the GOLD edition compared to buying a standard edition for both the Xbox One console and your Series X/S console. ($90 vs 2x$54)
You can see the Xbox store options here for these:

Appreciate the heads up but I did know about this but this is actually part of the issue in my eyes. We shouldn't have to spend $90 to get both versions when he would inevitably have to spend another $300 at the MINIMUM for a series S digital. And that's if he can even get one because of Scalpers. Other games come out with a free upgrade or a $5 upgrade but a whole $30?? and that's with EA Play. Another $5 Dollars.

Hi, from a consumer point I fully understand you but...
1st better spend " 90$" as "130$" for both versions (59,99$ Xbox One and 69,99$ Xbox Series S|X version).
2nd spending another "300$" has nothing to do with Battlield 2042 because you hopefully don't buy a console just for 1 game.
3rd Other games came out with a "free" upgrade. Sure there are games like "No Man's Sky" , "Metro Exodus", "Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order", Final Fantasy VII Remake, where a free next gen upgrade was offered, but the platform holders (Microsoft/Sony) as also the publisher can't always offer entirely new "versions" of a game for free. Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War, Tony Hawks Pro Skater 1+2, Death Stranding Directors Cut and a few other titles charges you for a upgrade. I don't know why they exactly will do that, probably to earn more money or the platform holders didn't allow them to release it for free (because the platform holders recieve a "cut" from each copy that is sold) however what I try to explain there are reasons why it can't be for free at all, technically we recieve a different version where in some cases more work is needed.

There will most likely be a standalone upgrade option closer to, or maybe a little after launch
