I really struggle to understand why this information is SOOO secret.
- Keyboard and mouse are not implemented yet but are in the process of?
- They are deciding if it will be supported?
- They will implement if they have time?
I am not sure if EA is aware of the importance of this question.
In my case, this is the difference between pre-order the Ultimate version or not buying it at all.
Especially because the competitor has already implemented keyboard and mouse and it is working really well.

Details about a lot of what's coming in BF2042 is light right now, it had only recently been announced after all. You'll just have to keep your eye out for further news.
I would say though, while I have zero issues with people using keyboard and mouse on console myself, I do think there will be some fallout from the community if it does get announced. Historically it's been a divisive subject.

I can imagine that. Not everyone likes to take a keyboard and mouse to the living room.
That's why I think this is more a business issue than technical. That decision was made a long time ago and I bet keyboard and mouse are already implemented.
And now they are discussing how to make that work, when it comes to matchmaking, cross platform, etc.. and if the community will endorse it.
But I think EA could say something like "Yes, we have keyboard and mouse ready and we are working on how to implement that."
As you say, the only thing we could do is wait.

@TifanofauvoCan we have an option to keep remote users in their own servers and keyboard users elsewhere.

As long as they are put in kb/m lobbies it will be fine!

I miss when people just accepted console for what it was, they used a controller they had fun.
I hate that people have this sudden competitive desire to ruin the experience for others by using mouse and keyboard on console. You can build a decent PC and play Battlefield absolutely fine with a mouse and keyboard, for the price of an Xbox.
You can’t sit on the couch and relax anymore because every game is a sweat filled mess of people using third party software & hardware to mercilessly wreck controller players.
I hope they don’t support it.

@UarebadatfifaIt doesntn matter. I've been using mouse on console for over 5 years. Whether they support or dont doesnt matter, theres Xim and other devices as alternatives. Just because you want to aim with a nipple doesnt mean others do too, mouse is by far the superior device.

What you said is incorrect, as mouse and keyboard lobbies are separated. Also historically there are no battlefield games to make a comparison.

I hope not.
I like playing on a level playing field, against other joypad players, where skill and connection determine the outcome..not input device!
One reason why im really hoping there's an option to turn off crossplay with PC.

I dont see why not. Seems like most games are like that now

Although predominantly about PC cheating, there are some telling bits in here from a PC player......
- 4 years ago@Trokey66 The article doesn't add much to the conversation. DICE and pretty much everyone else here knows it's easier to cheat in PC than on consoles. That's why console users are allowed to opt out of playing with PC.
Allowing M&K to console (and forcing crossplay on us) and cheater numbers aren't related. It just means there are a group of people who are willing to play vs PC players with a similar hardware and have a equal chance. Having to face cheaters is our problem. Most that prefer playing in a M&K are PC players (and I know a lot of people) so facing hackers is nothing new for us and we are going to have to trust in EA's anti cheat and if they manage to slip through, endure it with other PC players. Nowhere should adding M&K affect controller user experience.
Funnily enough, not adding native M&K support would only increase cheater numbers on console. There will be more cheaters on a console lobby running adapters and using a mouse and keyboard anyway.
Personally I think crossplay (and cross progression) is the future and it has so much more pros than * that it's definitely worth spending time on. I don't wanna elongate the post too much but I still stand by what I say. Crossplay is cool but no console player will use it (and therefore no PC players will get to play with consoles) unless something like native M&K support is added and giving more freedom of choice to the players.

Main question is, is it more important for Dice to get thousands more players or loose few * that think they know better. Only because it is a console, doesn't mean it should be only controller. The more support they will implement, the more people they will get.
To me, the second they announce if it supports mouse and keyboard, same second I am buying the game. It is not that hard, they already got the base prom PC. So what is the problem?
Some people played controller all their lives and they are good with it. Me, never played with one. I had PC most of my life, now I got ps5. But I will not buy a shooter game if it has no m & k support. There are thousands like me who went for ps5 instead of upgrading for newer pc. Keep that in mind Dice
Thank you
Mike

I'm going PS5 also, due to the cheating pandemic on PC. Native mouse support feels much better than using a XIM, so hopefully PS5 has native support so I don't have to use a XIM.
Of course, seperate lobbies for controller and mouse players is preferable. Otherwise game developers will just crank aim assist up to insane levels.
To be fair, aim assist is off for m & k. That is why cod you can play equal with someone who plays with controller.
It should be as simple as selecting option if you want to mix and match or stick to controller players only. It is not hard to do
- 4 years ago@Babadook30 I would have thought that millions of console players would be a more attractive target than a few thousand PC refugees that can't use a controller but hey, you know better..... Apparantly
- 4 years ago
First of all it is not your business to decide who can use what input. I have clearly suggested option for different lobbies. You are a stubborn self righteous *. Only because it is a console doesn't mean it is only controller. All consoles have supported m & k from ps3. Game developers all across platforms have started implementing it
