@Blackidus That is very incorrect. Battlefield is a competitive game and has numerous esports leagues setup around the world. And has been since the days of BF3. People also play siege for fun, but the point is as simple as I made it. If you are using a piece of equipment that is not permitted by the game, that gives you an unfair advantage performance wise. Then its cheating. This applies to many games across console and as said most of them take it very seriously and even permanently ban people caught using M&K in any games regardless if it is in a competitive setting or not.
Yes doing selective matchmaking is a solution but it then creates another problem of people not being able to find games. This is apparent in CoD and apex legends. It takes on average 5x longer to find a game once you have disabled crossplay then when you have it enabled. Not because there are more pc players than console, but purely because everyone knows how much longer it takes so people do not bother. Pairing console keyboard and mouse players only with pc players again is a good idea, but whether it can be implemented is another story im not sure if you can create a code/mechanic that would detect this and how complex it would be to create e.t.c. You would essentially have to create another layer to the matchmaking system that detects the type of input being used by the player. This relies on whether the console actually shares that data which I do not know if it does.
Your 3rd point is literally a straw man argument. Devices such as monitors, headsets are personal preference and has nothing to do with the control input method. If you are playing PC and it is a low-end vs high-end then you clearly did not look into things enough when your brought your PC or got into PC gaming. We are talking exclusively about control input methods here and how it creates a huge disadvantage.
Microsoft opened the kb&m API for all developers so they can implement it the way they want. You would not be creating a new layer, just adding a new filtre along with the dozen already in place, like type of match, latency, etc...
So just because it's a "personal preference" it doesn't give you an advantage? As @Blackidus said before there are some technics the game can implement that could minimise the disadvantages. And let's be honest, if a player is feeling a huge disadvantage just plug a kb&m and be happy! We are talking about a $20 accessory that anyone can have, or already have, to enjoy the game.

@TifanofauvoI have not based it solely on esports content. It also all aspects of playing multiplayer. Using keyboard and mouse against console controller players gives you a massive advantage with your reaction, aiming and control speeds. It's a proven fact which is why games ban people who are caught using them now. Microsoft may have opened up to it but have sony? It's cheating and if you advocate for it then you are also a part of them problem. There is only one legitimate use for mouse and keyboard on console that I have found and it is for people with disabilities.
- 4 years ago@SF-Tebaggins So you are saying that Microsoft is providing cheating tools by allowing kb&m on Xbox? Part of the problem?! You should think about what you are saying, it doesn't make sense.
By the way, Sony also allows keyboard and mouse.
The problem that I see is people who are not willing to accept/adapt to changes. Keyboard and mouse on consoles is a reality and it is growing fast!
Again, if you think you have a HUGE disadvantage, by all means plug your keyboard and mouse and be happy.- 4 years ago@Tifanofauvo Hm "adapt to change" would that not be you m&k users that can't 'ADAPT' and use a controller and play fairly like mostly everyone else on console using a controller?

Sorry but it is not possible to agree with you about M&K being cheating on Console.
ex: I have a friend who is left handed and for many tries and efforts he still prefers controller over M&K even on Pc
the aim assist in games is OP, after someone mastered the L2+R2 combo game is easy for controller.
Have you played Cod recently in console lobbies only with M&K enabled?
you will get shredded by controller sweaties even playing with m&K
so where is the advantage there? lool
any device gives you an advantage?
with that said if I play on my monitor instead of my tv with 400ms of input lag I am cheating?
I consider this cheating:
Xim apex + aim assist
Cronus max with macros
I own a Pc and at this point I will also not be able to upgrade my gpu because of the insane prices (still hoping for better days) but,
from my group of friends all console players i am the only one that has one, and i would like to play with friends with my prefered input.
last:
-by adding M&K support it might introduce this input for ppl who always played with controllers
-it might deter ppl buying the above mentioned cheating devices
-and Help ppl with disabilities too so they can also enjoy the game
Dice and Ea would only be loosing if they dont do it because:
