Will I be able to download PS5 version of bf 2042 gold edition on November 12?

I preordered the Battlefield 2042 gold edition on the PS4 for the PS4. But now I have a PS5. Can I download the PS5 version of the Battlefield 2042 gold edition instead on November 12th? Also I want ...

    Thanks for your visit on the forums!

    Because of a recent change, all digital versions of Battlefield 2042 now have a chance to include the cross-gen bundle (PS4&PS5 and Xbox One & Xbox Series S|X), it depends on which one you purchase. See here for more information.

    While it normally should be the case that the console should download the version that is specifically meant for this specific version of the console, it can sometimes indeed happen that it downloads the last-gen version, instead of the current-gen version. This can only happen on the current-gen version of the consoles, like the PS5 and the Xbox Series S|X. Most of the time this is caused by a potential 'bug' in the software of the console itself (see here for example) and has nothing to do with the game.

    When the time has arrived that Battlefield 2042 is available to download, I would indeed recommend double-checking that you're downloading the correct version of the game that is specifically meant for your console, in order to take advantage of all the stuff it has to offer on the current-gen consoles.

    You should see a PS5 logo (or a PS4 logo) on the download that indicated which version you're downloading.

Now that the Gold Edition is a Cross-Gen bundle yes you will be able to download the PS5 version. Also you can check in your game library on the PS5 to make sure the auto download is enabled.

Just to confirm. It will be the PS4 version that will auto download. How do you make the PS5 version auto download instead of the PS4 version if it’s possible?

    @UnknownSoldier17 I've had wonky experiences like this w ps5, I'm not sure that option is out honestly... on the preload day for BF 2042, check to see which version it is downloading, it is possible it might download both, unless it does in fact start the ps5 download. I say that thru my experiences w it so far that I have had to manually select which version of Ghost of Tsushima to download cause it was downloading both versions and some other games as well.....same thing... I'd just make sure to check it out on preload day, I too have gold edition on ps5 on the store for me it is listed as the PS5 version tho really unsure, but will be checking for sure lol

      @MegatronNerd Idk if it’s going to auto download the PS5 version as well. When I go onto my game library and click on bf 2042 and select the timer to select which content I want to auto download. All I see is E.G.

      Battlefield 2042 Gold Edition PS4 & PS5
      PS4
      Expected auto-download date: 11/10/2021

        @UnknownSoldier17 yes that's what I see as well, my best thought would be the option appearing during preload and when I go to my game library as well under the collections tab, all different versions show up there as available to download as well as additional content/ extras.

        Some quirks I don't like about PS myself.

        My brother had similar experience w Borderlands 3, he realized it had in fact auto downloaded both versions, so I think we will need to manually select that when preloads/ downloads start, or it will just auto download everything
