Battlefield is the only EA game that I care about. However with 2042 they have started to head into a direction that I cannot support any longer.
So if the next game is building up on the poor design changes made (specialists, large and empty maps, lack of platoons, 128 players, downgraded graphics etc.) here, I am definitely out. I would rather burn my money instead of giving it to EA/DICE for another game like this. Glad I already cancelled this after the Beta. Looking into my friendslist which comprises around 70 people also manifests that almost no one cares about this game any more.
I will only return to Battlefield if they return to their DNA. I want to see classes back, interesting maps with cover, decent quality control, 64 player conquest as a permanent mode, platoons + all the other "legacy features".
At this point I would be happy if they they took any orientation from Battlefield 5. This game has had plenty of issues, but in contrast to 2042 it feels like a Battlefield game at least. Back then I thought that it could only get better, but they really managed to hit a new low for the series with 2042. My only expectation from now on is to get another Battlefield game in the Battlefield-franchise one day. Because this game has nothing in common other than the name printed on it.
So my answer is: No, I will not buy another game any more unless they make a true Battlefield game again that is worthy of its name.
I certainly won't pre order a game from EA but if the next Battlefield game is amazing then yeah sure I'll buy it, but only after release and I learn all I need to know about it before buying it. Simply blacklisting EA games for life is just immature as you'd potentially be missing out on the best Battlefield game ever just to "stick it to EA" which when it comes down to it, no one cares about, especially EA themselves. Life's too short to hold grudges especially if you end up losing out because of it. If there's a unique product out there that I'll enjoy and get a lot of use out of then yeah, I'll but it, regardless of who made it. Sticking it to the man is all well and good until it starts impacting you negatively.
