I think the more cautious approach will become the norm.
I hope this hotfix will solve the issue and reverts the situation back to how it was. Also I hope I can use my current settings still. Anticipating on this hotfix I did not change my settings yet, but that really gave me a hard time playing over the past days.
With DICE being notorious to mess up settings and setting stuff back to default values with their updates I'm going to make screenprints of my current settings just to be sure.

You can copy the settings/profile folder and if something gets messed up you can just paste the copy you made in place of the one the game is using.

What is this Uniform Soldier Aim and is it worth turning off or keep on while playing on PC?
- RanzigeRidder23 years agoLegend@JD_W0LF On PC that works but on PS5 the only option is to either write down or make screenprints of your settings unfortunately.

@RanzigeRidder2 If I were you I would take phone pictures of your settings, then when they have finished
messing thingsup I mean fixing things, you can put the settings back to how you had them, or at least as close to. - OskooI_0073 years agoSeasoned Ace

- RanzigeRidder23 years agoLegend@80uwjx4m1chc Using screenshots from the PS is much easier, you can download these to your phone via the PS app, which I did meanwhile
@Oskool_007 that's way too complicated. You can make and restore full system back-ups that will restore PS settings, Games (incl.game-save files) and apps. But for just a few settings in a game it's too much work. As such my method described above will be sufficient. - OskooI_0073 years agoSeasoned Ace
@RanzigeRidder2 I found an easy way to backup game settings to PlayStation Cloud!
- RanzigeRidder23 years agoLegend@OskooI_007 I know how to create and store back-ups, but this only creates a full game back up which you can use should you have to reinstall the game, which is a bit overkill for just some settings like Uniform Soldier Aim and ADS sensitivity.
- OskooI_0073 years agoSeasoned Ace
@RanzigeRidder2 A game backup consists of controller settings and single player game saves. I don't understands how that's overkill. It's possible to only backup the settings for a single game.
Are you thinking a game backup saves the whole game and is 40GB? Because a backup of game settings is really small around 1MB.
- RanzigeRidder23 years agoLegend@OskooI_007 And still it does not help. What the game back-up will do is reset the game back to the status at the time of the back-up, if Dice rolls out an update that sets settings back to default (something they're infamous for), as soon as you boot up your backed-up game it will push to install the latest update and overwrite the settings again.

@RanzigeRidder2 If an update deletes game settings you could simply restore a backup of your game settings. The game isn't going to re-download updates after restoring game settings.

Announced:
"Tomorrow (18/07) at 08:00 UTC, #Battlefield2042 Update 5.1.1 will be rolling out via a Client Side update. A game restart may be required to continue playing around this time.
The purpose of this update is to correct unintended amounts of sensitivity when Aimed Down Sights, in connection to Uniform Soldier Aiming."

Originally I heard it was going to be a server-side update which I found odd. Now it's going to be a client-side update which makes more sense.
