@gF0rce14 Im sure its more of a regional thing than the general population beeing dead.
I haven't had any problems playing the PS5 or the PC version with crossplay of. Getting in games is damn near instant.
It's the same for the people I know from my region who are on Xbox.
The problem was never the lack of an ingame crossplay switch on xbox.

What region are you? West Coast US servers have been dead since ThanksgivingI play on a PS5, I'm on the West coast and I have been able to connect to games on both versions (PS4 and PS5) without issue. In fact, I can also find quite a few Portal servers running without crossplay enabled on both.
I know PS5-only isn't dead nor is PS4 for that matter. .....and I highly doubt XB is either. I'll wager this has more to do with an issue in the crossplay mechanic, server / matchmaking process or similar that is affecting some players.
I don't see any evidence that those who play with cross-play off represent a considerable minority. What I have seen are those who have been having problems connecting to games with other players and those who don't seem to have an issue. I think it is evident however that there is a problem with the system. I have problems at times being connected to servers in Portal that must be in another part of the world given the ping issues. Why the system doesn't connect me to ones in my area that are more optimal is beyond me.
- @Kean_1111 I think on xbox series the cross-play off crowd is fully in the minority. They didn't even have the option to turn it off in game until this most recent update. I'm west US and I've still yet to find any games in breakthrough with cross-play off.
I honestly might just play the last gen version more. The matchmaking is only xbox one and ps4 so there's no PC and the games are 64 players instead of 128.
Most people will be playing with cross play on. You will only be matched with other players who turn it off which is evidently a considerable minority.
- @Noodlesocks I know, but as I said there seems to be more than plenty of players with crossplay off on Ps5.
For those on xbox, have you had any luck with crossplay off on the series x or xbox one? I'm curious which one right now has a bigger crossplay off player base. I am more than willing to redownload the last gen version if I can play without waiting 30 minutes for a game.
I guess last gen wouldn't be an issue though as you are only against other consoles.
