The sentinel is still reliably blocking 60mm mortar's and all kinds of other explosives for me.

The XM3 has to have its range set on a specific object of cover before it can harm enemies. The main drawback to that is Zain mostly needing to be out of cover himself and in a compromising position aiming down sights to do this.
There is always a high risk that the player aiming this weapon will be killed when trying to do so. Also because of the precise nature of the round being used, it is very easy to miss targets that are too far away or closer than the object marked.
I hated using this weapon when it was released because I died so much trying to get the hang of it. Now that I know what I am doing and understand it's strengths and weaknesses. The XM3 is a very rewarding weapon to use.
Get caught with the XM3 in your hands in close quarters combat and you are toast. Also running backwards or (and I know that people hate to do this on defense) pushing forward when taking damage from this weapon is a direct counter for it.

The enemy has a very potential one and i would move to the worst, just to counter him... Its like being the guy who spend 5 minutes running to the edge of a Conquest map to knife and Tbag a sniper camper. He might die from anything else on the road, and 9 times out of 10 a team friend got the sniper before you reach the top of the hill. And even if you succed you still have to run 5min in the other direction to return to battle and you'll probably die doing soo.
In theory Dozer is a good idea, but in reality he is soo situational that i don't believe it would help that much.
I will try to be sure but i don't believe in him. Especially because Dozer may be usefull in close quarter with his shield, but in open range at distance where Zain shine, Dozer will be in trouble i guess.
I think Specialists of BF2042 are a part of the problem. In BF4 DIce toned down explo spam and game become better. Here Dice has to justify a specialist like Dozer, useless in most scenarios except if you create over saturation of explosions for other players...
@Skill4ReelI slightly agree with you, AS XM370 doesn't has indirect fire (thanks God) you have to aim to your target. But the range set is auto lock, you don't have to do anything when you aim at the good point. Aim, clic baoum.
I agree with you it's awfull when playing in close quarter. But anybody gets it, and you'll find best XM370 spammers not on flags, just 60 to 80m away. In this position you have the advantage on all players going on the objective. Because ON the objective you have to deal with closer enemies and just can't watch outside with enough care in most scenarios.
It has the advantage of a sniper, but you don't need a line of sight and can kill multiple enemies in one fast clip. I mean why some guys are still using snipers to cover flags is a mistery for me (and i did T1 all snipers) but i'm afraid some players have already found the trick.
The range set up disturbed many players and i believe it explain the delay since Zain release and the actual growing situation. It took longer to some players to figure out how to be devastating with Zain while it was day one for Liz for example.
I tried Zain + SPH combo for some rounds, do it guys. Don't play too much agressiv, just let a few temmates in front line and back them up. If you get the same experience as i did you'll get a 10 or 15 ratio with around 50% kills by explosives. Use your friends as hunting dogs to reveal enemies on the flag, laugh those ennemies fighting your teammates get behind cover to heal or reload and destroy them.
Easy kills with very low risk.
I'm not too bad as infantry i guess i am at 3.7 ratio ingame, i know some guns are disgusting. But playing this way feel far more disgusting for me because my oponents doesn't have time to react most of the time. They are unaware of me and die without seing me.
I'm sad about low quality gameplay under reciving end of this mechanic, but i tried it before coming here to check from the other perspective. And i'll use it against the noobs abusing it against my team without any respect for ther behaviour or the game.
I would just prefer to see it toned down.
In any case, and even if we disagree, I thank you for the quality of this debate.

He's might be the worst specialist, can be usefull in close quarter with his shield but against a spam from distance...
You lose more interesting trait and gadget to survive one more shot from Zain, but he has 5 ammo by clip. that's why i suggested 3 rounds by clip...

Nope... I survive longer with Falk and her "not cheated" 12 syringes.

I think it took a little long to the comunity to get how to be devastating with Zain, when Liz for example was easy to get on the first day. Zain is in the assault class but consider him differntly and he becomes a God.
Zain is a camper, far more efficient than any sniper. His "camping" range allow him to clean the place and to join the end of the capture. You get the kills and the flag.
Slowly i feel we have more Zains ingame, and the new SPH launcher just bring the combo to a quite dangerous level in my opinion.

Don't go 1st line of the battle, keep a distance of 50 to 80m with it and let your friends act as hunting dogs, they seek and show you enemies. Now just camp like a sniper (not 300m away i didn't say noob-sniper) and get the oportunities. I've been on the receiving and sending side of this. It's a guaranted garbage gameplay and dirty kills.
I mean i laugt when i see a guy in this position with a sniper riffle... Zain can deny the access to a whole zone unless enmies pass the first line and reach you. Yea a good enemy sniper, a tank shell, an enemy Zain.. you can get killed, but if you're not too bad you'll do a ton of kills before.
I made a joke about giving back mortar stike or UCAV, but guys XM370 and SPH can be put in the same category of "very anoying tools for most players on the server".
I prefer to be killed by a bullet and don't like indirect fire.
I like the chaos of Battlefield, but i like to be able to surf on the wave, not being dragged by the wave.
We can have different opinion and feelings about this game, we can like different parts of this game and i respect your different point of view. And I thank you for your arguments which allow a constructive debate.

See you on the spamfield.- 3 years ago@l_Grand_Vizir_l Yes. The XM3 is a camping weapon which adds to the risk of using it. Moving messes up the distance that was previously set. So then the player has to go through the process of finding the target and setting distance again before firing.
Of course a Zain player using this weapon would not run up on enemies with it. I was talking about situations when the enemy is rushing up to Zain when the XM3 is in his hands. In this situation he is an easy kill.
From my time spent using this weapon, it's range is not comparable to any marksman or sniper rifle in the game. As I am often annoyed by shots missing at long range.
