Xp ranking no good

Why doesn't battlefield have a system based on xp and assignments completed. For example rank 0 to rank 1 100 xp. Rank 1 to rank 2 200 xp. Then you get to rank 4 and want to go to rank 5 you need 500 xp and you have to kill 10. If you meet the goal 500xp but don't get the ten kills you don't move up to rank5 but you still get to keep your 500xp and you move up when you get the 10 kills in one round and become a private first class. Rank 20 to rank 21 you'll need 21,000 points kill 20 in a round destroy a vehicle and revive 5 teammates. I would like a system like this that way when you enter a room and see a general you know he truly knows how to play the game. You'll have better idea on who you can count on

@bossinquebec First of all, not everyone who plays CoD or Fortnite is "childish." Second, I didn't say anything about not wanting to level up. You may want to carefully re-read my original post. (Hint: It was about tying ranks to challenges.)

We still often see players coming into the BF4 support section complaining or screaming (depending on their type or the day?) about not getting certain weapons in the game at their disposal.  As they say: "I paid the full price for this game and all the DLCs!".

So consider themselves entitled to get it all from day1 and not having to grind through any XPs or assignments.  I recall this often to be a contagious subject for some players struggling to qualify for the weapons such as the UCAV or the GOL Magnum.

It's not easy to make everybody happy in this world...

This is a problem, a part of the community wants items that are 'hard to get'.

On the other hand, all players paid the same for the game, and making some of the content only reachable for part of the community is a problem. At least gadgets and weapons should be available for all players.

That's why I think the old medal system is better, only a few get the special medals (like being MVP 50 times).

On that I totally agree. The things that are really "hard to get" should be cosmetics only.

  • @730zLBGORILANo, I really hated the wierdly complex assignments Battlefield had and arbitrary challenges stopping you from leveling up I think is really bad. I don't want to be stuck on a level just because the game asks me to do some ridiculous challenge. The last example you gave is one that would really frustrate me and other players.

  • The challenge wouldn't be ridiculous for example: rank 5 . 5000 xp 10 kills in round. Rank 10 revive 10 soldiers and kill 5. Rank 15 resupply 10 soldiers and kill 5. Rank 20 spot 20 enemies and kill 5. Rank 25 destroy 1 tank or assist in destroy 1 tank. This is just an example. Now there is nothing hard about these assignments

@Rusty Rat Sometimes its those that are camping on the edges that pick the enemy off around you. Obviously if half the team are sat camping then its a bad thing

@bishtop Sometimes yes, but more often doing their own thing and not helping take objectives. Not too bad in defense, but in an attacking scenario, sitting in the wrong part of the map trying to improve K/D or complete a challenge means they are pretty much useless. Prioritizing objective achievement rather than kills, means people get rewarded for trying to win. There will always be modes like team deathmatch for those that want to prioritize kills (and in such modes kills are the objective).
