Hopefully this lengthy delay in correcting the aim assist is actually a result of them overhauling it and getting it to where bf1 or bf5 was. It's really broken right now and as noted, the horizontal tracking and snap assist are two huge problems, as they're almost nonexistent right now.
I can only imagine that @Straatford87 and the team are working hard at this and hopefully they'll have time to us in the next update or so.
It's a core component for console players playing any FPS, especially involving crossplay with PC players, so I hope we get this adjustment soon!
I think the delay is less about them "overhauling it" and more about them straight up not having the ability, budget, desire, or resources to fix it.
Aim assist is table stakes for controller FPSes, whether they're on console or PC. To release a game with broken aim assist and then to not have it fixed in the first big patch should be embarrassing to them, especially with the game having crossplay with M+KB users.
I think DICE is screwed with the new version of the Frostbite engine. They can't get it optimized and it's causing issues across the board.
At this point I'd be OK with them just enabling M+KB support for console players, but I'm sure that would just complicate things even further.
It's a frustrating time being a Battlefield player right now.

I think a lot of the console issues being totally ignored is do to devs that do play this only play on PC. It explains why input lag on mouse and keyboard have had repeated patches that almost all balance changes are from a PC perspective.
We reported the aim assit issue during the beta and repeatedly after release and all they did is increase the slowing effect in the bubble making it even worse. Showing a total disconnect from the games real issue.
If they want to recover the console population they need to do a lot more then tweak aim assit. - 3 years ago
Just adding on my latest with this:
As I said before, the Aim Assist did little to nothing when in typical engagements where the player was close to you and strafing or anything. No actual help there.
However, when tracking players, the AA seemed to kick in, but actually made it so it added MORE RESISTANCE as you tried to move the crosshair to follow them, meaning you never actually can never quite get the crosshair on them. For example, enemy is moving left to right, if you try to track left to right, your aim is SLOWER than normal even if you are behind themI've dropped my Aim Assist value from default (100) to 70 and that's where it finally started to feel like I could at least catch up, but in general it seems like aim assist is hurting more than helping. Heck I might even drop the value more. Almost as if it applies a speed modifier to your stick movement (slowing it down) rather than automatically pulling your aim towards the target as it moves.
So if anyone else is getting burned by Aim Assist, I suggest turning it off, or at least reducing the value a bunch.

@Slink_FSU that was something I wish we had the option to do to, using M+KB would have been great, but I agree I think it's too late for that.
As for the engine, we'll see how it turns out, but it's looking very shaky right now at best.
And I also agree that a lack of resources has a lot to do with the lack of aim assist as it makes little sense that it's so blatantly absent in this game, but perfectly fine in BF1 and BF5.

They do have a lot of work ahead of them in fixing this issue and helping the overall population (especially on console) come back to the game. I honestly think the game is great at its core and has massive potential, but the aim assist issue is an example of a huge problem the game has among others, but I'm hoping a total fix is coming soon.

@Dead-Sync @xXHappy_PuppyXx @Slink_FSU this was suggested in the reddit forums as well, to reduce or eliminate the aim assist in the settings.
Lowering it helped, but it wasn't all too noticeable, and when I tried removing it entirely, well, I was all over the place, hahaha.
I do think that this is a temporary option for those willing to try. Bottom line though is that aim assist has to be revamped in order for more effective gunplay in 2042 to be present.

Summarize your bug Hit reg feels unresponsive at times. aim assist feels like it has more aim resistance then it helps.
How often does the bug occur? Occasionally (10% - 49%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Play your game
What happens when the bug occurs? Your cant track enemies, and end up wasting too many bullets trying.
What should be happening instead? You aim tracks on target like it did the previous June update.
Agree, I think they tried to increase aim assist but we got more aim resistance instead.
I also think that hit reg issues have resurfaced to where it feels like you're needing more bullets to get kills sometimes.
The aim just feels weird in this game. If you are on target with your first shots it feels like you can track and down people with ease.
If you just miss, it's next too impossible to get your aim back on target and track, you end up dumping a mag trying and die like a noob.
It sucks!!! I've found as soon as you miss don't even try to ADS and track, You have unscope, correct your aim on target and shoot again if you want your bullets to register.
