Battlefield 2042 - Solved input freezing
Hey everyone!
Not sure if anyone is still having this issue (or cares enough to fix it and play) but I FOUND A SOLUTION. It works, it's easy, it's been tested and never came back. I thought I'd post my fix in case anyone new has this issue. Don't mind the lack of computer terms, I'm by no means a computer genius. I just got really sick of this issue and had to find a fix.
I finally caved and got 2042 and immediatey wanted to punch myself(in the face might i add.) Randomly in game and at menus the game would freeze for a second, then I would lose all control. As you can imagine this makes it virtually unplayable. If you've had this issue, you know.
Anyways, I noticed while running the game with my device manager open that device manager was constantly refreshing. This action was causing all of my hardware and devices to refresh, thus causing the issue. I narrowed the issue down the my printer, as well as Microsoft streaming service proxy.
How did I do this?
-Open device manager and expand some menus(when it refreshes it will minimize and expand the menus so you know it refreshed)
-downloaded Nirsoft devmanview and run it as administrator
-in devmanview, look for the column "connect time" and drag it left beside the names column for easier viewing. Next, sort the column by clicking on it so that the most recent time is at the top
-monitor device manager and when it refreshes, see which program is at the top of the list on devmanview. Use the times to confirm it IS the most recent. (For example, it was my HP printer. I confirmed this by seeing that everytime it refreshed that printer was at the top of the list at the time it refreshed.)
-Once you've figured out what it is, disable that or uninstall if possible
Monitor and if it continues refreshing by itself, repeat steps. Microsoft streaming service proxy was also causing an issue though not as frequently so I turned that off in my settings.
THATS IT. I ran multiple games and not a single issue at menu or in game.
