Battlefield 2042 Crashing PC windows 11

Battlefield keeps crashing my pc, the only thing I get in event viewer is that there was an error while trying to create a crash dump. There is however a crash dump under documents/battlefield 2042 for my most recent crash.

Every time I verify the integrity of the game three files get replaced

preloader_l.dll

EAAntiCheat.GameServiceLauncher.dll

EAAntiCheat.GameServiceLauncher.exe

I have reinstalled EA Anticheat, reinstalled the game, reinstalled Windows, removed GPU drivers with DDU and tried the newest and previous drivers. I have run benchmarks and tested my CPU, RAM, SSD, GPU, and everything is fine.

I have tried so many different things from different threads, and nothing has worked.

Asus Strix B550-F

Ryzen 7 3800X

Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 3000MHz C15 x 2

Sapphire RX 7800 XT nitro+

Samsung SSD 990 PRO 2TB NVME

Samsung SSD 970 EVO PLUS 500GB NVME

Samsung SSD 860 EVO 500GB SATA

Samsung SSD 840 EVO 500GB SATA

Corsair HX1000i

Gigabyte M27U

  • It seems the culprit was a Samsung 990 Pro 2 TB I recently got, I reinstalled Windows on a different drive and Battlefield works fine.

@Demon6988 Thumbs up, good ya found issue !
Make sure 990 pro is cooling enough, especially if ya run the game and system from it.
Does it need a heatsink ? Or is it a heatsink from motherboard ?
Do cool pads touch heatsink ? ect ect ect

    Game On ! Cheers !
  • Yeah it was under a motherboard heatsink with a thermal pad, only ever got up to the mid-40s Celsius. Only gaming caused it to crash, I have taken the drive out and returned it.

  • That got rid of my error(please see attached), but now when I click on the icon, the EA app appears and then nothing else happens. The game doesn't start.  When I go to EA app click the "play"icon, it says "Game launching....." but nothing happens, just the EA app re-starting.

@IhaveTigerBlood Did ya reinstall ea app again, to see if this fix issue ?
(ps dont forget to update firmware from the nvme drive)

    Cheers
  • what i did is reinstalled battlefield 2042 and that seemed to fix the issue.  I use my laptop.  I have a Katana 15 B12V MSI.

    @Rokebo73

I would like to thank you for your solution (post 2)

I have been playing 2042 for a couple of years now with few problems -- until last night, when the game would crash to the Desktop (no errors)

turned out to be the Ea anti cheat.

I followed your instructions and am now back up and running !!!

its the anti cheat.... delete just ANTICHEAT folder in install directory and the dbdata.dll in install directory after done that,

start game.... now occurs this error :

after just occuring this message reboot pc and start EA app, an update is available for bf 2042... download it and enjoy, it runs on my samsung ssd!

UPDATE: At all ive DIDNT SOLVE THIS AS DECLARD BEFORE. it only try to start yet but after bf2042.exe starts in a really tiny minimized window (maximum minimized windowed shape i dont know why! try many to just clear out from where this comes but idk!) the title of window (BF2024.exe) disapears and then the window disapears too. 10 seconds after the bf2042.exe get terminated out of the taskmanager app and after  that the EaApp.exe window appears with no errors, but every crash cycle it write a crashdump file to SYSTEMPARTITION:\Users\<*USER*>\Documents\BF2042\crashdump\

it stores the dump report as .mdmp file wich is encoded so not realy readable for human eyes with just open it in Editor.txt, and i dont now how to decode it and make it 100% readable. Think that our trying to bypass the first occured GFX driver error result in still getting the same error as before but only without a notice anymore. The crashdump files could may a good start to solve it if anyone can make them readable.....

if its not drivers and/or win11, then i think it comes from windows version example ENTERPRISE,EDUCATION and those version who has implement the whole group policy management and active x directory owner options they come with them and prevent meybe some writing events during logged in in windows over a standard user account that just grant the adminrights on top of the USERS GROUP account. Such accounts will never reach a full ADMINISTRATOR Group status at all because of the GROUP POLICYS the UAC/V and the LOGIN TO Windows Account where loged in during installing such games that has those signifikant equal crashes afterinstall bf2042.

TO RECIVE A FULL STATUS OF LOCAL SAVED ADMINISTRATOR account u need to be Member of the Group ADMINISTRATOR (they have full power over the group policys and only them has this power! wich is not grantable to account outside the local based ADMINISTRATOR GROUP!!!! SO DO NOT LOGIN INTO MICROSOFT ACCOUNT DURING INSTALLATION OF GAMES U HAVE ISSUES WITH BEFORE, login Local and do not login online in the microsoft account or over a domain! Because this prevents the full Admin status too!!!! With other words even you open any app like EaAntiCheat.installer.toll.exe and run it as Administrator (Option out of the rightclick context menu) even then you will dont have all rights of FULLY LOCAL BASED ADMINISTRATOR GROUP MEMBER!!!!!!!! This is something kind of problem wich goes biger with the big windows versions example the enterprise edition! Example the installation of the EaAntiCheat tool needs full rights to write case sensitive data during install to just do the job the anticheat should do! THIS CAN IN SOME KIND OF EXAMPLES ONLY BE DONE WITH FULL RIGHTS OVER THE WHOLE MACHINE AND AS ALREADY SAID THIS CAN ONLY BE DONE FROM ADMINISTRATOR GROUP Members they are logged in LOCAL in windows!

Im 99% sure about that because im fix't an equal error in BF3 at his release where 15-20% of all players cant start after they install it, we solve it with just copying alle related BF Files from a  PC wich just could run the game from the beginning! and it was just the whole thing about how this one who could play the game without errors was logged in in his pc during installation(writing) this files to his HDD or SSD with the right settings on the policys or lesser options for policys and user control mangement etc.,...... like enterprise editions or other grand versions of windows

its significant because im again in the group of poeple who has this error again like in BF3 long time ago but i have to declare YES im still using ENTERPRISE edition windows as OPERATING System.....

so we need one player who can still play without errors and we need a copy of all installe bf2042 files thexy writen during install as a copy, with those files we overwrite ours step by step and check betwenn steps if already fix it so at the end not everyone needs to 100GB right installed files again as download  to solve this problem if we find out exactly which files we need for a fix. but for the beginning we need to solve this the nearly 100GB installation files from a system that can still play without error..., this could fix our all problem in under 1-2 hours.....

I had the same problem for days. I tried everything short of a new windows install. This is what worked for me.

    navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Battlefield 2042

    You will see this:

    preloader_l.dll_b

    EAAntiCheat.GameServiceLauncher.dll_b

    EAAntiCheat.GameServiceLauncher.exe_b

Rename each and remove "_b " from the extension

    Then select all

    Go to properties

Set each file to read only

I couldn't find a fix anywhere not even from Dice/Ea. I hope this helps someone out there. Cheers
