Battlefield 2042 on my PS5 is unplayable

Hello my name is Damien, I’ve Ben a foundation supporter of Battlefield’s online multiplayer since bad company. I  wanna start out by stating I Love battlefield it’s my fav online FPS of all time. That being said I need to address an issue with the new release battlefield 2042. I’ve Ben experiencing unplayable lag and none stop rubber banding. I’m playing this game on my PS5 I’ve sunk probably 10 to 12 hours of game time into this title and not one match I can say was remotely playable or acceptable. It’s really weird I can hop on battlefield 1 or battlefield 5 atm and have a pretty solid gaming experience minor lag minor input delay and great hit registration. Battlefield 2042 is the complete opposite extreme  lag none stop rubber banding and none existent hit registration. To say I’m let down would be understatement I’m a huge fan of battlefield I love the franchise I’m way beyond let down I’m devastated, I was frustrated for the first 5 hours of play but after 15 or so hours of playing I am now completely and utterly Depressed. Let down and feeling hopeless. I’m really worried this issue with the Lag and Rubberbanding will not be addressed or resolved, I only have a 50mb DL and 5 mb Upload connection I also play on ps5 maybe my internet cannot handle the optimization of the game idn, the beta had some flaws but the server connection was fairly good a lot more playable then it is atm, I know I’m ranting and i apologize, this is an extremely depressed fan boy giving his two sense thanks for hearing me out, if you are reading this you are the resistance!!

  • I have the same issue playing from Xbox one x with a Samsung t5 SSD, since I cannot find a series x to buy yet.  I call it lag, jerking or stuttering, but I do not believe it is internet related, as I have done multiple tests and have not had issues with any other game.  I have 80-100mb down and 40mb upload.  Ping generally around 30-40ms in most games that have the option to show internet details on screen.  I believe it is strictly related to poor or incorrect coding or game design/execution.

It can get really bad in helicopters, jerking back forth while trying to fly and aim.  It also happens on foot just when running and basic movements are being made and of course during gunfights and aiming and sometimes the game literally stalls for a fraction of a second while I engage in a gunfight, substantially putting me at a disadvantage.

I have tried many things to improve this from blowing out the Xbox to insure no excess dust creating heat, repositioning the Xbox for better airflow with external fans to promote better cooling....to letting a friend be the party leader, and even turning my FOV from 90 were I like to run, down to the lowest 50, and turning off all extra graphic options such as screen shake, extra HUD details, chromeratic abberation, vignette, etc.... All settings that I can possibly think MIGHT give me a chance in having an enjoyable game instead of an aggravating one.  I am about ready to call it quits if they can't fix this game as this is only 1 issue out of many with BF2042 (I have reported some of them, but am starting to feel like I should be a paid game tester and not an end user).

I have also been an avid battlefield player way back to when the first battlefield on PC was modded for modern combat, but I will choose to play a less desirable game to me that is stable and working over one that I want to play, but it is broken.

I do understand games have bugs and problems that need to be fixed and I try to be understanding, but it seems overwhelming for this game, and an overly excessive amount of major core issues from such a large company.

If you want to see video evidence, all of my past streams can be found on my twitch.  I would even be willing to conduct tests or show this happening live if it would be helpful or speed up the fixing process.

  • Hello everyone, do not blame DICE this time, since this problem does not come from them. There are already many forums of ps5 users talking about it, it is a Sony problem and affects most online games, in my case this recurrent lag happens to me in all battlefields not only in 2042. They should go to protest this failure to the Sony page not here.

  • @rayoa123 not just PS5, also on Xbox. It is a dice problem. Only game that is giving me issues. The solution I found was to quit playing and go back to PUBG. Problem solved!
  • @rayoa123 Maybe PS5 also has an issue, I don't know.... I am on Xbox and if you see my post of things I have tried and others and the fact that BF2042 is the ONLY game that I have issues with, it is pretty obviously a BF2042 problem.

@Silentwolfe It may be that in your case it is a problem of Battlefield 2042, but in the case of PS5 it is a problem of the console and Sony because there are many of us who protest and it is not only in this game ... I wish you good luck to see if they answer you and look for a solution.
  • @rayoa123 I'm on PS4 pro, don't have issues with other games, tried multiple internet connections and no joy, my son has just got a ps5 and he's having no issues in games. I've yet to try the game on ps5 as I can't afford another copy yet but hopefully in January. I've even got another ISP installing in January to see if that works but I've also tried on a 5g mobile broadband hub with over 300mb and it it still does it. Hope they sort it soon!
