Have done SFC, have done clean boot, windows and all drivers are up to date, same issue happening although tonight it wasnt just in the menus, its mainly entering a game, or changing to another game as game ends i have noticed so it seems like a graphics loading/unloading thing or a network problem.
@WTFxxPrYzMhave you tried changing ram settings, maybe disable any overclocks entirely, or check if voltage is too high.\
Yesterday I still crashed on hourglass in the middle of nowhere but it felt somewhat better on new maps lol.

@vydenis i have no overclocks, ram settings are standard / recommended for the hardware, as are the voltages. As i said in OP battlefield 2042 is the only game that does this, and i play other much more graphically intensive games with no problem. I also work as a 3d artist and use Unreal engine and 3ds max on a daily basis with demanding scenes- no problems at all. This leads me to believe it is purely a problem with the software.
Next thing i will do, although probably a waste of time is uninstall and reinstall to a different drive.
