BF2042 Crash to desktop with no error after GPU update - DxDiag.txt inside

Hi,

I did a GPU update this day (RTX 2080 SUPER) and now BF2042 is crashing. The problem occurs after 3 minutes on portal server, it returns to Windows 10 desktop, with no error message.

I re-updated manually my GPU, I repaired BF2042 through Origin and cleaned cache file of Origin. It does not work!

Here is my DxDiag.txt : https://products.groupdocs.app/viewer/app/?lang=en&file=c84e0682-0a9f-4d34-b23c-bbd8020b1afb%2FDxDiag.txthttps://jumpshare.com/s/8wcOdEahOQ6u63V6hC9c

Please help me!!!

  • Hi,

It works !! Thank you very much !! @Rokebo73

    I only did that :

    Pre download DDU software https://www.guru3d.com/download/display-driver-uninstaller-download/
Pre download youre GPU driver https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/drivers/

Boot youre system into SAFE MODE.
Press the Windows key + I on the keyboard to open Settings.
If that does not work, click Start and then select Settings.
Click Update & Security, and on the left pane select Recovery.
Under Advanced Startup, click Restart Now.
After the computer restarts, on the Choose an Option screen, select Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > Startup Settings > Restart.
After the computer restarts, a list of options appears. Select 4 or F4 to start the computer in Safe Mode. If you must use the Internet, select 5 or F5 for Safe Mode with Networking.

As soon ya pc / windows is in safe mode , run the DDU software tool.
    And uninstall ALL NVIDIA software.
When all is uninstalled , reboot system , it will start in normal mode (WITHOUT INTERNET CONNECTION).

Now install the GPU driver ya pre downloaded.
When driver is installed , shutdown system.
Connect internet , and now startup system and test game.

  • @bond7070  Do this:

    Pre download DDU software https://www.guru3d.com/download/display-driver-uninstaller-download/

Pre download youre GPU driver https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/drivers/

Do not install gpu driver yet.
    Do this:
Press Windows key + 'R' ,typ CMD
Press and hold down CTRL + SHIFT and press ENTER.
When User Account Control shows up, click Yes.
Use the following command lines, pressing Enter after each
(make sure you wait till each of the commands is executed properly):

    sfc /scannow
    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

reboot system  and now only do this:
Press Windows key + 'R' ,typ CMD
Press and hold down CTRL + SHIFT and press ENTER.
When User Account Control shows up, click Yes.
Use the following command lines, pressing Enter after each
(make sure you wait till each of the commands is executed properly):

    sfc /scannow

No more errors? then do this:
    Disconnected Network from youre system.

Boot youre system into SAFE MODE.
Press the Windows key + I on the keyboard to open Settings.
If that does not work, click Start and then select Settings.
Click Update & Security, and on the left pane select Recovery.

  • Yesterday Anti-Cheat started kicking me out of game as soon as I reached the menu after splash screen or within 5 minutes in game.

Decided to update Windows 11 Pro - 24H2 - the game now will not start at all because of a DirectX error.

Went through safe mode DDU, graphic update, windows update, checked directX / VisualC all up to date.

Went through all forums to look for options and i tried them all besides REGEDIT MachineGUID which sounds too suspicious.

Game will not start no matter what i do.

    DirectX function
    "m_d3d12PipelineLibrary->StorePipeline(HashStrDx12(key),
pipelineState)" failed with E_INVALIDARG ("An invalid
parameter was passed to the returning function."). GPU:
"NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090", Driver: 56094.
    D:\dev\TnT\LocalPackages\RenderCore2\2.04.00-ks\source\plat
    form\PcDx12\PipelineLibraryPcDx12.cpp

@res3arch Did ya try an older version GPU driver already ?

I also see ESU issues in youre dxdiag, software from https://www.garmin.com/en-US/

Also tried to fix youre Page File to custom settings ?
set page file to custom size if you have 16gb memory
    set initial size to 16000
    max to 24000

    Cheers
  • I set 102400 Limit for pagefile, that's more than enough to run anything.

Running as administrator gave me ONCE an error about anticheat, but never again after that.

I run AVG as antivirus, tried with it disabled -> no luck.

Attaching dxdiag to hopefully look for more clues.
