BF2042 crashing and disconnecting/damaging Brand new SSD

During any gamemode in Portal

-No issues while playing

-then random crash no error

-causes the (Samsung Portable SSD T5) SSD drive the game is installed into to disconnect from computer.

-Drive reconnects, run error checking on drive: Corrupted files, run chkdsk on command prompt on drive, errors detected required restart to fix.

-Reopen steam, run file integrity check on BF2042: Some errors.

Tested other games from steam library, BF2042 is the only game that causes this issues.

-EX: 300+ mods on skyrim running 5+ hours runs fine on drive no issues.

Beside the usual High CPU Usage that requires hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling to fix/bypass the issue

- There were some unusual high/max usage spikes on drive during gameplay.

  • any fix this is happing to my new m.2 firecuda 520 2TB drive. I can play any other game just fine but bf2042 crashes and make it disconnect.

  • Hi @Code_votu, @KingCZ4R, if the SSD is Portable it is something we don't support our games on- We only support our games to work on internal drives.

  • I have the same issue on a WD Black M.2.

It isn't portable at all, built in not even half a year ago.

Problem only occurs on W10 PC, my Win 11 laptop doesn't seem to have the same issue. According to WD, this is the freshest driver for the M.2

(i7-9700k, 2080S,970 EVO for system, WD Black SN770 for games, 2 Seagate HDDs)
