BF2042 is completely unplayable for me after season 2.

Hey, i know i posted here a few times but theres just nothing else i can do, season 2 has completely broken the game for me, at the start of the season it would crash with no error message after around 30 minutes of play, portal would seemingly fix it but it only delayed the inevitable, and now after a reccent update its got even worse, now the game will either refuse to load (which its always done on first boot for some reason), load infinitely or let me into the menu and then when i join a match it will either, let me join and crash to desktop after a minute (which has only happened once), crash during loading with no error or just load infinitely.

None of these isses, aside from the black screen on first boot happened before season 2,  not in the beta, not in the pre season 1 i played through trial and defiintely not in season 1, i thought it could be an issue with me switching windows but as shown by members of this fourm and more, these crashes are not just part of an operating system change, something is either wrong with the game or somehow hundreds of people are having the same issue with their hardware at the exact same time.

It feels like I've tried everything to fix this, a list below is what i've done:

- Updating my drivers
- Reinstalling windows
- Verifying the files
- Reinstalling EAC
- Repairing EAC
- Rolling back my graphics drivers

- Launching the game through origin although it just launches it through steam
- Scanning the disk for errors (it found some but it didn't fix the game)
- Reinstalling the game, twice

- Enabling DX12 (although im pretty sure this is redundant)
- Turning off CPU performance boost
- Setting maximum CPU to 89%

- Clean booting
- Clearing Cache
- Deleting all my documents of this game in general

I've switched operating system about twice trying to just fix this and it hasn't helped in the slightest, I've had no issues running things like cyberpunk, battlefield V, call of duty modern warfare 2019 or pretty much anything demanding so im really confused in seeing what the issue is here outside of the games update itself, the update has definitely made loading time worse for models as my friend who runs the game on an SSD has pointed out and with this the games also seemingly getting brand new graphics bugs i've never seen before which ill put below, these slow down the game and flash colours in my face for no reason, aswell as this randomly the game would stop loading models so some guns went invisible , including new attachments.

I'm just trying understand whats up and why I can't play this game now, I'd really like to but nothing is working and at this point it just feels like theres no solution and that the game is just broken for me and what seems like a bunch of other people, I never thought a games update would leave a game unplayable weeks after release,

Thank you for reading, I've provided my dxdiag below aswell as a screenshot of the games graphical glitch in action.

    Hey @cpltaggart,

Have you tried turning off Ray Traced Ambient Occlusion, if this was enabled at first?
Also, are you playing with DLSS enabled by any chance?

I also had a look at your DxDiag and it seems like the Windows Error Reporting data is missing, therefore I am not really able to check what the reported errors are.

Could it be that you have this service disabled? If not, could you maybe try to make a new DxDiag?

Game kept returning me to the menu. *snip*. No error message of any kind. Threadripper 3990x, 256GB RAM ddr4 32GB x 8 DIMMS in QUAD channel at 3600mhz, EVGA ftw3 ultra 3090 rtx. Turning off DLSS, and ray tracing did nothing. Good thing i didn't pay full price / buy battlepass for this POS.

CM edit: no need to be rude or write in all caps.

  • Hey @EA_Leeuw

As far as i know raytracing and dlss shouldn't be enabled as my card does not support it, it doesn't show as enabled in the ingame settings when I can get into them.

Uhh I don't know if the service is disabled, it may be when i disabled alot of window's telemetry, which is a thing i do on every install of windows, would there be a guide or anything on how to renable this service, just to make sure?

    Thank you for the response

  • @cpltaggart Friend of mine is having the same issue after season 2. Every time the count-down ends in 0 and the match is about to start, the game just crashes and closes with no errors. He basically tried everything to solve the issue and no luck. And my friend never played season 1 as well, he stopped playing the game when the game had a lot of issues at launch. Now that he wants to give it a second chance, this problem appears.

@cpltaggart, not sure how you can enable Windows Error Reporting again once you have it disabled. But normally this is a service that van be found via the Services program of Windows if you haven't disabled that either.
