BF2042 Server Lag

Hi EA,

My friend and I are both having issues with lag on all games we have played and on all mode types.

We are both running top speeds of 200 - 900 mbps on the download speed. 

Bit disappointing considering we have great internet connections. 

Can you please assist and help us?  We do not need to amend any internet configuration settings.

    HI @Mexako1988 can you try the following steps to see if we can help this issue?

    • Advanced connecting troubleshooting  
    • Change DNS settings (You can use the public google DNS primary: 8.8.8.8, secondary: 8.8.4.4, unless there is a different DNS you would rather use)  
    • Clear your PS4's cache:  
      • The PlayStation 4 doesn't actually have a cache to clear. That said: It never hurts to power down/power up your console if you're encountering performance issues in the console.   
      • Press and hold the PlayStation button on your controller.   
      • Select "Turn Off PS4".   
      • Let the PlayStation 4 to fully power down and wait for 10 to 20 seconds.  
      • Restart the PlayStation 4.

    I tried changing the DNS to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 but this did not work. This made it only worse. My internet is working fine.

    The game -

    1. is extremely laggy

    2. doesn't load properly - pixelated 

    3. guns don't work properly - they lock up

    4. when running or walking with your character, it rubber bands 

    5. shooting also doesn't kill bots or players

    @EA_Illium Both myself and a friend are having the same issues as stated post - 14-01-2022 11:57 AM

    When will there be a patch for the game to fix all these bugs?

    Please help and assist.

    Network engineer here. Could you explain what DNS has to do with server latency? If you're talking to BF2042's servers, you've already connected to the server and your computer has already resolved the DNS name and cached it. Unless part of BF2042's protocol is to continuously request new names I don't see how this makes any sense.

    Also this is definitely still a problem in 2023.
