Can't find my friend with EA ID

What's the update on this? I am trying to add a friend and it says no players match the criteria (can't find the user). I am on Xbox Series X (new Gen) and he is on PS5. He is able to search and find me, and sends me an invite but I never receive it. We have also both verified our privacy settings are correct to enable cross play and be visible when searching, etc and are both on unrestricted adult accounts. This has been a know issue since December. What's the deal? Sounds like we are deserving of a refund if EA promised this game to have cross-play and it doesn't.

UPDATE

Think I may have found the issue. I have an Xbox Series X, but I installed the "Xbox One" version (crazy that option even exists) from the Microsoft store, which is not compatible with new gen consoles. I'm installing the Series X version now and will test once completed but I'm fairly confident this is the issue. Hope this helps someone else out there facing the same issue.

I have the exact same issue except on my PS5 end nothing comes up from the search results at all for anything. Xbox SX can get some search results but not my I'd. So frustrating

Wtf are you guys smoking in the studio? 10 years ago... 10 YEARS, if I wanted to play with my friend all I had to do was, open the xbox/playstation/steam friends list and invite them. And it worked every time. And it worked for every single game. How are you getting worse as time goes on? Please become a plumber because this job is not for you and your friends.

I'm sorry but that is absolutely ridiculous. If it is considered cross play then it shouldn't matter the generation you use. Also, where exactly does it say/advertise this? Do you know how many people probably spent money on the game only to find this out?? BS if you ask me

Hey im using Pc and my friend ps5 we cant still find each other? both of us have crossplay on and he can see other pc players.
