Hmmm , euuhmmm , personally i would make D: the boot drive, switch cables, install windows on it , and install only BF2042 on it.
Use the normal hdd for all other data. Disconnect your 3th drive if ya play game !
Bot do first a cleanboot, start Origin /Steam as adminstrator, test game !

@Rokebo73Only got the game yesterday so wouldn't be able to compare different windows updates. Just tried the cleanboot and didn't change anything, if anything -5fps. Also BF2042 is the only thing stored on the SSD, It was on my hard drive before but moved it as that seems to solve other problems people are having but clearly not mine.

And do you got onedrive running in the background

Every map you play will make a shader cache in C:\Users\YOUR USERNAME\Documents\Battlefield 2042\cache
this will be downloaded during gaming.
