Unfortunately, this has always been a problem for BF2042. I returned to it to get the reward for version 6 after playing the 6 open beta, which has a low-latency mode on the PS5 (which worked perfectly for me). The difference is extremely glaring, and it's horrifying to see how high the latency is and how it puts you at such a disadvantage from PC players. It's very difficult to keep up with aiming in a gunfight when the controller only responds after a while, especially when PC players can turn off V-Sync and activate Nvidia low-latency+boost (and speaking as someone who's played on PC, the advantage on PC is colossal). There's also the problem of only being able to use the controller on consoles, which is unfair simply because crossplay is available.
I believe they could have easily updated the game a long time ago with a V-Sync-free mode, unlocked FPS for VRR, and a lower resolution for higher FPS. But they just ignored this for years and left console players to suffer.
The BF6 beta has all these latency and input issues resolved, which, at least for now, lessens the console's disadvantage over PC. I just hope these options remain, or even improve, in the final version of the game.
henriquefrp01 PS5 performance looks very good indeed! It looks like performance mode disables v-sync and offers really low controller lag.
Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) can be enabled to eliminate screen tearing.
The framerate seems to average around 80fps on PS5.
The only improvement I can think of is if DICE adds an adjustable framerate limiter option in the game settings. Being able to cap the framerate at any number between 60-120fps would make the game play smooth as butter! 🧈
