DirextX function "GetDeviceRemovedReason" in the game menu, cant even load maps

So this issue has existed since the game launched, and it still exists. I have tried anything one might be able to google their way to, everything in the 100+ page long thread about the issue, as well as everything on this small list:

  • Run Battlefield 2042 as administrator.
  • Disabling DLSS in-game.
  • Use the correct game resolution that your monitor supports.
  • Updated drivers and Windows systems
  • Clear the document folder (C:\Users\WIndows users account\Dokument\Battlefield 2042) for Battlefield 2042, do this one time only.
    • You can move the settings folder to Desktop so you don't have to rebind everything.
    • Make sure no Google drive or One drive is running on this folder.
  • Cleanboot the systems.
  • DDU reinstall the GPU drivers.
  • Remove any overclocks on the system if possible.
  • Disable XMP.

Please help me find out what this issue is. The game crashes so fast, I barely have time to mess with graphics settings. I have found no settings that improve the problem. Nothing seems to help at all. I am on the verge of replacing the whole PC. I just want to play the game that I paid way too much money for, considering I can't play it at all. It used to be slightly more stable, sometimes allowing one whole game, but that is a long time ago. It has never been worse than now.

  • Alright so I found something that stabilizes the game enough for it to be playable, reliably so it seems. Been playing the game for a week now (almost), and I get 1-2 crashes a day, meaning in a gaming session of anything from 2-6 hours, depending on my free time. I can't say for sure whether the RAM really did anything, but I think probably not.

After I installed the ram, I continued to google options for fixing it. Led me to the suggestion that I should set an FPS limit on the game though the nvidia control panel. I don't remember if I have tried this before, because I've tried so many things over the many months. Regardless, limiting the game to 40 fps has a dramatic effect. Like mentioned before, the game now crashes after hours, not minutes. Before, I was lucky if I made it into a round and got to shoot a bullet or two. Now, it might crash after 3-4 games, and then not again that day.

tldr: set frame rate limit to the game at 40-50, doesnt fix it, but stabilizes the game.

@PiksvedHey, i do not see the partnumber from the memory F4-3200C16D-32GVK

    in the QVL list !
I see you want to buy 2x 16GB 3200mhz from Gskill.

In the list for 3200Mhz memory i see only those partnumbers:

Better choose one from those memory modules !
The compatibility checker is not a fav. tool for me, ya never know if its up to date and if ya get the correct mem, that compatbile with youre cpu at youre current motherboard !

Check list , scroll down to page 6
    https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/LGA1151/PRIME_B365M-K/memory_QVL.pdf?model=PRIME%20B365M-K

    Cheers

Ps its possible memory from compatibility checker is ok , but no guarantee till ya test it !!
I did BOLD 2 lines for 32GB 3200,hz memory , team and gskill (only 2 modules for dual channel mode)
    Team CMK32GX4M2B3200C16(Ver5.39)

    G.SKILL CMD32GX4M2C3200C16(Ver5.39)

32gb memory is not realy needed unless ya do some stuff with photo;s / music ect.
32gb memory makes it possible to run more programs, but ya need also a decent cpu if ya use a lot of memory !

EDIT: Check this link at page 15 please !!

You're right, it's not there. What a mine field, but I am learning a lot from all this, so thank you for that as well.

Right now I am looking at that long list and trying to find what is best, it's a real long list lol. Do you think I should stick to 2666mhz ram because it can't go higher anyway?

Also about the 32 gb, I do a fair amount of stuff in photoshop and similar software regularly, so I do like having a good bit of RAM. But obviously if my CPU can't keep up anyway, then its pointless.

Right now I would either get

    Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4-2666 C16 BK DC - 32GB

    or

    Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 3200MHz 32GB

Both are on the list, price is similar, but their MHz varies. Is there one you think is better?

    Thank you so much.

  • So, I bought new ram, installed it, and the game crashes after 10 mins. Didn't matter.

  • Alright so I found something that stabilizes the game enough for it to be playable, reliably so it seems. Been playing the game for a week now (almost), and I get 1-2 crashes a day, meaning in a gaming session of anything from 2-6 hours, depending on my free time. I can't say for sure whether the RAM really did anything, but I think probably not.

tldr: set frame rate limit to the game at 40-50, doesnt fix it, but stabilizes the game.

  • @vydenis Yeah, I am almost ready to conclude that too. The only things I have left to try, that I can think of, is replacing the GPU or re-installing windows. Not gonna bother with either, because the game is playable. It was not a very fulfilling solution, considering the problem is only lessened, not fixed. I still do not know the exact problem. I might still try to find out.
