DX12Renderer waitOnSwapChain Error

Hi! I get the following error after a few mins of playing, where the game freezes and crashes

*Dx12Renderer::waitOnSwapChain Gpu timeout detected* failed with DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG(*The GPU will not respond to more commands*). GPU:"Nvidia Quadro P1000", Driver:49649

So what happens is that I get in game, and this error happens after around 10-15 mins of playtime, where the game freezes (audio still plays in the background) but the UI will not respond.

As context, I have windows 10 May 2021 Update and the GPU driver (49649) is the latest driver according to the Nvidia Geforce experience.

It seems that this freeze happens after update #3, since I played the game yesterday pre-update and it worked out fine.

I hope this issue will be solved

EDIT: Added the link to my dxdiag

    Thank you!

I noticed in the DxDiag you attached it looks like there were some crashes associated with .dll files. I'm curious if running the Windows System File Checker tool might help with this. You can find more info on how to run the tool over at the Microsoft Support website

Please let me know how that goes when you've got the chance. Thanks!

  • Please help been getting this message since the BF2042 beta. updated drivers 2-3 times since and still getting this error. Also no problems with any other game. TIA for any help.

    DirectX function "getdeviceRemovedReason" failed with

DXGL_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG("The GPU will not respond to

more commands"). GPU; Nvidia Geforce RTX3090", Driver;49676.

This error us usually caused by the graphics driver crashing,

    Try installing the latest drivers.

    @cookie3443

Were you also able to run the Windows System File Checker to see if that helps? It looks like some Windows Processes are crashing in the DxDiag so I'm curious if that makes any difference.

If you need more info on how to run it check out the link in my post earlier from this thread. Let me know if that makes any difference for you. Thanks!

  • I tried a few things including trying to fix windows files with cmd but it made no difference. In the end I reformatted pc and went back to windows 10 updated bios and installed all drivers and windows updates and after reinstalling bf2042 it has been working fine just played 5 matches in a row without a crash. I also had an issue with some ram sticks which became apparent when trying to install windows, maybe that was also affecting it.

  • I found a solution for my pc. Running rx6900 and what i did to get rid of the crashes was to limit GPU usage to 49%. Havent tried any other %. Works for me.
