Please select your region Europe
On which server did this happen?
When did this happen? (dd.mm.yy hh:mm)
Summarize your bug Ever since you moved you services from Origin to the EA app, I have been getting EA app crashed every time I try to launch BF2042. It doesn't happen on other games just BF2042, I have tried reinstalling the game 3 times on different NVME SSD's. I have send over 50 crash reports when the EA app crashed on game launch. d21f9618-673b-4092-9c65-d20012b551d0
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? I don't know, clearly your bug testing methods are "working" wonders. Fix your EA app crash, I haven't been able to play for a month now. Crashes every time. I have send you hundreds of crash reports. d21f9618-673b-4092-9c65-d20012b551d0
What happens when the bug occurs? Game doesn't start, EA crashes.
What should be happening instead? Game should be launching!

Please read above of the ongoing problem I have. I have posted a report 3 times now, no one from EA has helped me.

  • @Somborka okay, I tested Origin 2 days ago and then it worked so that is why I suggested it. Seems like they decided to sunset Origin today. Shame on them for forcing a beta app on us.

Its important that you remove all the files and folders when uninstalling, not only reg entries. If your settings folder is intact after uninstalling, the game will use that folder every time even though you reinstalled and a corrupt profile file may be in play. Revo should ask you about remaining files and you should choose all and delete.

There a few other thing that needs to be taken into consideration.

Did you repair Easy anticheat?  I posted some links in my first reply.

You mention Steam overlay. Do you launch the game from steam? If yes, please disable the overlay as those may some times interfere with games. Also if yes then the issue may be the connection between steam and ea app.

Can you try to put the battlefield install folder as an exclusion in your anti virus. just in case your AV is blocking something. You can remove it from exclusion list again if it doesn't do anything. This is normally never an issue but there have been reports with other games that AV has blocked games from launching.

You didnt mention if you updated your graphic drivers. If you didnt please try a clean install. Check the "perform a clean install" when reinstalling.

Lastly have you check your event viewer if there are any log entries either from bf2042.exe or ea app? A crash could trigger a log entry and if there is one it will give a big hint on what exactly is crashing.

  • Did you use the app recovery?

You didnt mention you tried so just suggesting you try if you didnt already do it. Remember to close EA app before using the app recovery,

And yes, EA app is an unstable bug fest that shouldnt be forced on people.

    @Somborka

Does this crash happen when easy anticheat is starting?

If so try to repair easy anticheat: https://help.ea.com/en/help/faq/troubleshoot-easy-anti-cheat/ https://www.easy.ac/en-us/support/game/issues/guide/

However if you didnt have issues with Origin then you can keep using Origin until Origin is completely disabled.

You can have both EA app and Origin installed on your pc. You just cant have both running at the same time. If you get an error trying to start Origin just make sure the EA app helper service is not running. Origin may run a repair on all installed games when switching back to Origin but that can be skipped if you wish.

I have both installed and switch back to Origin whenever EA app decides to cause issues with a game

@3DiE9djua2 Tried all of the above, nothing works. I am tempted to format my PC but I know for sure the issue remains solely on EA app. Apex, BF1 and BF5 run normally. Only BF2042 doesn't start due to the EA crash. I keep sending crash reports for a month now but the situation hasn't changed ☹️

@Somborka Just use Origin. It still works and is better than EA app anyway. 🙂

If you are set on using ea app then try to reinstall the vc_redist files first. Should be found in the install folder of the game

Battlefield 2042\__Installer\vc\vc2015\redist  I assume you use 64-bit Windows so choose the 64 one (choose 32 otherwise)

If that doesnt do anything then you should completely uninstall battlefield 42 (including removing settings folder) and completely uninstall ea app (same here remove any left traces)

Use something like revo uninstaller that will help you scan for left overs.

Restart pc and then install ea app and battlefield 2042. The other games should be found automatically when you set install folder.

btw I assume you have updated the gpu driver and similar things. Bf2042 actually demands newer version of the GPU driver to run.

But again. I think the easiest would be to just use Origin since you had no issues there.

@3DiE9djua2 Uninstalled BF and EA using Revo and deleting all of the reg entries. Reinstalled EA and BF in the same drive, still the same crash.

Then I uninstalled EA with Revo again and downloaded Origin. Origin prompted a static banner saying I need to use EA app. When I run the game it asks me to install EA which I cancel and the game still doesn't launch. I even uninstalled all Microsoft Visual C++ and let the game install only what it needs.

Seems like a dead-end. Can I try something different maybe? Appreciate you help mate.

@Somborka That is good to hear.

I was actually going to recommend you to do that next if the other stuff didnt work as it started to be clear there were something else interfering. And troubleshooting that would take much more time than just reset windows. 🙂
