Emp grenade detonating early or not registering the effects on the enemy

Summarize your bug There are times where I throw the emp grenade and it detonates in front of my face prematurely. I have tested this out in areas with no combat and it still happens. There also times where the grenade detonated but does not effect the enemy at all
How often does the bug occur? Occasionally (10% - 49%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Make the emp detonate when it contacts a surface and make sure it effects the enemy
What happens when the bug occurs? Enemies are not affected by emp effect or the grenade detonates prematurely in my face
What should be happening instead? Grenade should effect enemy and not blow up in face seconds after throwing it
