frame drops + input lag
i am experiencing extreme frame drops paired with input lag. it happens every 10-20 seconds. i have tried to fix it a lot, but to no avail. i've had the issue ever since i got the game, and makes the...
May as well jump in here instead of making a new post. I'm one of the lucky ones that has never had FPS issues. Was playing on a GTX 1080 low settings from Beta. Decent frame rates and the game ran smoothly.
Switch to 6900XT in February/March. I got the Direct X error message that's well documented. Switching off XMP fixed it for me. Game ran butter smooth for me. 150-200 fps all the time.
After season one patch my game ran terribly. Imput lag, stuttering etc. I reinstalled drivers and it looked to have worked. Then out of nowhere on Sunday I started to get huge frame rate drops. I don't run a counter in the game but could immediately feel the game wasn't running well.
Turning on an FPS counter confirmed that my FPS had fell through the floor. I had like 45-65 fps..... I've tweaked some settings and got it back to 80 plus or minus a bit but it's nowhere near where it used to be. I've noticed quite a few players saying they've had performance drop issues.
I should be getting a lot more frames than 80 fps running a 6900XT with an i9 10850K. They've definitely changed something.
Edit.
Should have mentioned I was running the exact same settings since Beta. Everything on low or switch off except mesh filtering set to ultra. I never botheredchanging the settings as it had no affect.
I also had my gpu underclocked with the max frequency reduced from 2600MHz to 2200MHz as the extra MHz produced only heat and no extra frames.

Hi @zbran1, if you turn on XMP now, does the same frame rete issue happen?

Hey, my frame rate drops issues were not caused by turning XMP on or off. With XMP enabled I would get the Direct error crash message that has it's own thread going here.
So I had no FPS issues up to the Season content being launched. When the previous patch to Season one was released I tried turning XMP on again and after one or 2 games it crashed. I turned XMP off again and I've not had the Direct X crash since.
i didn't even try XMP after Season 1 launched as the game is running so poorly for me and I was trying not to adjust too many things at the one time so as not to confuse the issue with something else.
My maun issues are. Low FPS, lag/stuttering and hit registration.
@zbran1 From what I've seen, you don't have to turn XMP off. You just need to make sure the settings don't exceed what your memory/CPU/motherboard combo support. In my case, my memory speed exceeds what my CPU can handle, so I had to configure XMP accordingly.

Hey, thanks for the reply. I'm running an i9 10850K, an ASUS ROG Z490-I and 32gb@3600Mhz of TeamGroup RAM that's on the compatibility list for the motherboard. I have zero problems running any other game with XMP enabled. It's only 2042 ☹️.
It never bothered me that XMP was off. Once I got past the Direct X issue(disabling XMP), performance was excellent for me. Really smooth gameplay, 150+ fps and enjoyable bar the know bugs that I'm not going to drone on about...
