friends appear offline or missing in EA app & 2042 friend section

 as mentioned,
1 friend appears offline when i start EA app & 2042. we removed each other then added back to friend list.
now i can see friend is online on EA, but i cant find in 2042 friend section even though i could see him in portal battle when played same game.
i have tried restarting computer, running steam verify integrity of files. none worked.
bug seems like it will persist for days

edit: both me & friend use steam cant see each other, but EA friends are online to me

    yes, we both use steam
    i might have forgotten to mention that other non steam friends ( friends on EA only ) show up in both app & 2042 friend list

    @blitzFrequency That's curious then. I don't use Steam as I play on console, so I'm not all that familiar with how it works unfortunately.

    Hopefully someone who uses Steam will be able to work it out for you.
