Summarize your bug Within minutes after minimizing the game using ALT+TAB on Windows 10, the game randomly crashes with a blue screen and this error: DirectX function "Gpu Hang Detected" failed with DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG ("The GPU will not respond to more commands"). GPU: "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER", Driver: 52824. D:\dev\TnT\LocalPackages\RenderCore2\2.04.00-ks\source\platform\Dx12\SubmissionManagerDx12.cpp. This error is usually caused by the graphics driver crashing; try installing the latest drivers.
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? By minimizing the game on Windows 10 and waiting a bit, usually after a few minutes you get a blue screen followed by this error.
What happens when the bug occurs? Blue screen for a couple seconds, then back to Windows with error mentioned above. I can start the game again but only after maybe 10 seconds. If I don't minimize the game and stay in the game, then the game never crashes.
What should be happening instead? Nothing, the game should not crash when minimized.
I just don't play games like most people: I ALT-TAB a lot and it works fine for all games. Even for BF2042 it used to work well! But since a around season 3 release that issue appeared.
I already updated NVIDIA drivers, dirextX is up-to-date, I actually reinstalled Windows 10 just for this - it didn't help.
The last NVIDIA drivers update was 2 or 3 days ago and of course I have the last BF2042. Absolutely nothing fixes the problem - it doesn't matter the Nvidia driver version, the BF2042 version or anything else. The bug is internal to the game and it was introduced around season 3.
See related thread with other people reporting the same problem here: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues/Game-crashes-since-Season-4-when-user-tabs-out-in-end-of-round/m-p/12367388#M25661
@zobizoba1 9 out of 10 times hard crashes and bluescreens are either faulty hardware or a bad driver.
You say you installed the NVIDIA latest driver, which is 531.41, but you actually have installed 528.24, which is a few versions ago. Sounds like you may want to check all your drivers.
If you really think it's the game, reinstalling the game would fix it. There is no wide-spread crashing being reported at the moment - i.e. the downloadable game binaries are not faulty.
- zobizoba12 years agoNew Traveler@DarthFDG I did not just reinstall the game, I reinstalled Windows (and the game). Also the problem has been occurring across at least 5 successive versions of Nvidia drivers. The problem suddenly appeared around season 3 update.
In light of the above, it seems rather self-evident to me that the problem lies within the game itself.- 2 years ago
YES - both my friend and I have this error to the point the game is not playable. We've resinstalled the game, EA Desktop (garbage), Deleted Documents/Battle2042/Cache folder... we've tried EVERYTHING and it still happens. We don't even Alt+Tab! He's on a Ryzen 3900X and RTX 3090, I'm using a Ryzen 5800X and Radeon 7900 XTX. We are at a loss.

@BigSleezey1964New update released yesterday and they managed to make the problem worse: it's no longer blue screen followed by return to Windows, now there's no return - you have to actually press the computer's power button for several seconds to force shutdown and turn the computer back on.
I stopped playing the game a couple months ago and moved to CS:GO and BF3 lol. Waiting for a fix, which would never come.
I can't believe such an obvious issue is being completely disregarded. The game just doesn't support ALT+TAB, I mean what the hell!?
