Game not loading

I am trying to play Battlefield 2042. I have tried several things and at this point believe the issue down to the nvidia driver but not 100% sure. Let me explain some.

Asus G751jm.
Intel i7 4710HQ
12 GB ram
Samsung SSD 870 EVO
Nvidia Geforce 860M

Fresh install of windows 10 64 bit, updated with latest game ready drivers.
Fresh install of 2042.
Launch game and gets stuck at the first splash screen and freezes whole computer. One time even got blue screen with "dpc watchdog violation".
Updated from 496.76 to 496.98 hotfix driver.
Launch game, gets past the first splash screen but freezes whole computer at the next screen.

The reason I do believe it to be the nvidia driver is until I updated to 496.98 driver, I could never get past the splash screen no matter how many times I tried. It is only after I updated to the hotfix driver that I got past the splash screen.

I have not been able to play the game, not even once since buying it. Again, I am not sure if it is the nvidia driver or the game causing this problem.

  • You actually don't want the game to start. My lowest end pc has i7 6700, 16gb ddr4 ram and 980 gtx. even at 720p lowest setting the game ran like crap.

  • SAME problems

    Asus g750JM

    itel i7

    8gb ram

    gtx 860m

    brand new kingston SSD

    brand new windows

    fresh updated drivers

    new BF 2042 install + repair on game files just in case

    Game loads up to the 2042 screen then darkenss then my keyboard lights turn off and laptop freezes up. It did load up to the helicopter and intro scene one time ,

    Welcome to 2042 Our journey begins here .. ect

    It happens to me very long time ago when everyone was playing Battlefield 3. When I launch the game only what I could see was black screen or first splash screen. I know why you experiencing same issue as I many years ago, also after I check your setup I just confirmed myself for being right so...

    Minimum PC requirements for Battlefield 2042 is:

    • Processor: Core i5 6600K
    • Memory: 8GB
    • Video Memory: 4GB
    • Graphics card: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti
    • DirectX: 12

    Let's compere it to yours setups guys 🙂

    @TwistedSkull666

                                     You              BF42

    • Processor: i7 4710HQ vs  i5 6600K       - Your CPU have 4 more threads then i5 but... that is not changing much. Your processorwirks on 2.5 GHz                                                                                  frequency while i5 is 1GHz faster. i5 have slightly higher memory latency (around +8%), 29% faster single-core                                                                        speed, 35% faster dual-core speed and much faster quad-core speed (+47%). That's mean your CPU is a bit                                                                          weak to run BF42 (All Battlefileds are more CPU game then GPU)
    • Memory:     12GB          vs  8GB              - You have enough memory, but as I notice Battlefiled need faster RAM. I had to overclock my ram from 2133MHz                                                                      to 3200MHz to play without fps drop.
    • VRam:          4GB           vs  4GB              - You have just enough vram but...
    • GPU :           860m         vs  1050 Ti          - Your graphic card is just too weak and slow to handle BF42 in any reasonable amount of fps. 1050 Ti is 90%                                                                            faster then your 860m, that's the reason why game gets stuck, It's not even able to handle menu graphics and                                                                        models, it's trying hard but it 'faints' and pulls whole system and other parts with himself. I'm sorry.
    • DirectX:        12            vs     12               - Nothing to say here

    @karlothebeast

    Pretty much same story as @TwistedSkull666, But you are even in worst position. Why?

    You have 8GB RAM while BF42 needs 8GB, but what with other softwares and operating system? They also need some space in RAM 🤐

    @EliteMk7

    You PC isn't that bad, at least you can run the game so what I can suggest is to visit my >TUTORIAL< and try to make your game to run batter (or wait until EA fix optymalization)

                                     You               BF42

    • Processor: i7 6700    vs     i5 6600K        - Your CPU is just fine, I'm also using same processor as you but with 'K' (i7-6700K)That's mean I can overclock it.
    • Memory:     16GB    vs           8GB            - Same as me again but how much MHz they have? I had to overclock my ram from 2133MHz                                                                                                      to 3200MHz to play without fps drop.
    • VRam:          4GB      vs          4GB            - You have just enough vram so your GPU have do replace some objects for other objects what may cause higher                                                                      usage and fps drops, but...
    • GPU :           980         vs       1050 Ti         - Your graphic card is much better then 1050Ti, 94% speed difference so the GPU is not a problem here but you                                                                        have to play on low, maybe medium settings.
    • DirectX:        12            vs       12              - Nothing to say here

    @karlothebeast @TwistedSkull666

    I'm sorry to say that but the laptops you have, won't handle BF42. It's time to buy new laptop or pc ☹️

  • @plfrost22 I appreciate what you THINK you know, BUT THIS BUG HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE REQUIREMENTS!!!!!

    2nd, the CPU is more then adequate to handle it.
    I do agree the GPU is semi-weak, but when comparing benchmarks, the 860m and the 1050 is not much different.
    RAM, you just assume the speed of my RAM. How do you know if I dont have better RAM?

    Sorry to say, you dont know what your talking about

    @TwistedSkull666First of all show me where I write that your ram is weak or not fast enough? I just said bf need faster RAM, I didn't said faster then yours or faster then XXXXMHz. And yes, I know what I'm talking about, Battlefield is a CPU based game so even if you gonna run bf42 somehow with this graphic card you gonna get max 20-25fps if they gonna fix optymalization, and it is enough difference between cards to don't run bf .I'm not gonna repeat or copy and paste what I just write above. I don't know what you think when you read "minimum' but your your setup is under minimum, so if you really think you can play bf with stable 25fps (at least) then prove it, and send me video.

    Good luck

  • thank you for your response, Ive seen there is a big ram leak in BF2042 maybe that is the issues people are running into, as for requirements these laptops are more then capable of playing games, i understand the requirments are higher now and are laptops are 7 years old, maybe time for upgrade, bf4 and other games run flawless, i think they rushed these game out on new tech and didnt build it stable and ready for older tech ,
