GFN VOIP - Battlefield 2042 - Anyone in the world gotten it to work?

Hello Fellow Gamers and GFN!

Battlefield 2042 is killing it right now and tight AF enough to play competitively, especially on the best game mode: HAZZARD. Now that controls and lag (next to none via ethernet) are fantastic VOIP is required to take it to the next level.

Short version of question:

Has anyone in the world been able to use VOIP on GeForce NOW in Battlefield 2042 ever? If so what is your setup? (system, what GFN app, Mic type and connected to where, audio out to where? etc)

Long version of question:

I have been able to use VOIP in general on several games using GFN including Battlefield 5,, however I have never been able to use VOIP on BF2042, ever.

Edit detail: BF5 is launching through Steam, BF2042 is paunching through EA App

I have used 3 different setups all with associated mic privacy permissions set to allow, GFN microphone enabled via in-game overlay, various audio in/out routings, a 1/4" mono mic, USB Mic, and headset (mic/headphone combo) on the following setups:

  1. Google Chromecast with TV (GCCWTV) = using the GFN app, a dongle with USB MIC, KB and Mouse all connected, permissions in GCCWTV set to yes, mic test app hears my mic. This didn’t work for VOIP in the end but thats ok as its WiFi and just not fast enough to be competitive with the big dogs on BF2042 Hazard.
  1. PC = using GFN app, wired internet via ethernet, all accessories plugged in as usual, KB, Mouse, 1/4” mic and external speakers plugged into standard corresponding jacks on motherboard, (Generic USB mics are busted on Windows 10 and cannot be used due to incredible low amplification and doesn’t transmit anyways), the PCs sound drivers are Realtek etc etc. This  setup works as expected for BF5 where I can broadcast and communicate with team members with minimal trouble and activating the mic shows the transmit icons next to player name and my team mates and I can communicate. THIS SETUP DOES NOT WORK FOR BF2042, why????

  2. MacBook Pro (preferred method if possible) = Using GFN app, wired internet via ethernet, KB and mouse connected to usb ins no problem. My 1/4” jack mic and speakers are plugged into a TRRS splitter for the MacBooks combo jack that serves as audio out, or can serve as a headset combo jack using TRRS input (Tip, Ring, Ring, Sleeve to separate the audio out and in like any headset jack), if everything is plugged in ok prior to starting the GFN app things work fine in BF5 once the app starts and I launch the game, BUT NOT IN BF2042. If I output the display via HDMI to my big TV then the audio routing gets a little too complex for GFN and I don’t think I can broadcast in any game. Regardless, scenario 3 works without using HDMI out for BF5, why not BF 2042? And yes I’ve turned on VOIP in game and set to both squad and party etc etc, I can hear others, and when I hit transmit I hear the radio transmit sound effect in -game but my player name does not appear in yellow showing that its actually transmitting and my friends confirm they can’t hear me at all. But I hear them and see their names in yellow as they speak

So, has anyone here ever gotten VOIP on GFN to work with BF2042? If so what is your setup, at this point I’m open to getting whatever setup required for this if its actually working for someone in the entire world.

Thanks!

-Terrible Fung
