network lag while playing on 100 meg fiber!?

I've noticed that more often than not, I see these little yellow folders on the upper left of my screen while playing and the game lags.  It is almost game breaking, but I keep playing because I love the game.  However, it is very troubling.  Almost all I play are on-line shooters and MMIOs, and none of my other games have lag.  I'm running a wired connection and 100 meg fiber. I've closed all other apps, etc.  But it still lags.

Any help or guidance would be most appreciated!  I've attached my DxDiag file.

  • @zoldosFX 8150 not the best cpu for such super mega game, it's a bottleneck. According to the screenshot, you a) have a drop in frame rate due to a weak CPU, as indicated by a special symbol in the upper left corner and also an overlay in the right corner, b) you have a large Time Nudge (up to 160 ms), which makes it even more lag.

@zoldos bf2042 uses a lot of CPU, even if ya buy a good GPU< doesnt mean ya game runs ok.
Many people buy an overkill GPU while there CPU is the bottleneck !!!
First Cpu and MEM, then check if GPU is needed !

Its a next GEN game for the next GEN pc <--- 😉

    Cheers

I've moved on to COD MWII.  I can run it on med-high with no lag at all on the same PC.

So.....I purchased a new PC after the old clunker died. Now running 2042 on Ultra, and it's amazing!  No lag!  Nvidia RTX 3070 w/ 8GB and a 12th Gen Core i9 12900 CPU.  It got really warm though, so I pulled the front of my case off (actually looks better now) to reveal a 120MM case fan!  Temps now vary from 70-80C.  No worries!

    Is it liquied (AIO) ??
    Share some system info please.

Sure man!   See the attachment for the CPU heatsink.  It came with my PC.  I replaced its fan with a 3 pin "Be Quiet" 92mm high speed fan.  And another for the exhaust fan.  Then replaced the front fan with a 120mm "Deep Cool" 4 pin.  Lastly, custom mounted a 120mm fan at the top of the case, and it blows down over the CPU heatsink (the top oft the case has vents in it).

Honestly though, with almost the same setup, BF 2042 would get my CPU up to like 98C.  But when I took off the front of the case (it literally blocked the front fan), temps dropped to 81C at the most during intense gameplay and usually stayed between 65C and 75C.  And it idles at 28C!

@zoldoshow many fans are there at youre case ?
How many fan's are exhaust and inhaust "?
92mm fan for cpu ? hmmm
Ya need a good balanced airflow in youre case, a little positive pressure is ok.(example 4 fan's push cool air in , and 3 push warm air out !!
This 92mm fan at youre cpu block, dont got a bigger fan and/or alu. block for cpu ?

ps the mounting of this block at youre cpu ! are those springs ? did use to much pressure at cpu ?
LGA1700 cpu/sockets are known to bend , its possible you bend cpu by to screw it to tied to cpu motherboard.
Also a Thermal Grizzly contact plate (from Bauer) help to get temp down (in my case it did help for 6 to 10C)
also i made my AIO to take AIR into the case, not out, cause the AIR in case is already warmer then the air outside ! (else warm air go true aio and doesnt cool that much)

I have two 120mm 4 pin intake fans, one 3 pin 92mm high speed exhaust, and then the same on the CPU.  The heat sink *only* takes 92mm.  I didn't tighten the screws too much. I only turned them until I felt some resistance (I watched a detailed tutorial).

What made all the difference was removing the front panel.  It was literally blocking the main intake fan.  Once that was removed, temps during gaming dropped by at least 20C!

I was going to buy a better case, but since I'm no longer having heat issues, I'm keeping the original one.
