Nothing New in 2042

Last year, I got so tired of the problems with 2042, I uninstalled the game.  Week in, week out, issue after issue after issue. And no dis to the EA Team, but it was the same old, same old. "Try stopping running background programs"; "Try under a new account with Admin access"; "Try with this, try without that" and the same issues occurring over and over, with no resolution.

I gave it a break for a good six months.  And then, because at heart I'm still a Battlefield fan, and have been since the very start of the series, something told me to give it one more chance, but I see by the forums it's the same old problems over and over and over again.

Nothing's new with 2042!  Having reinstalled on my new, upgraded PC, expectation and reality are very different.  EA still load you into games that are just finishing, even thought they shouldn't.  When you do get into a decent game, there aren't enough people to populate the server, and you wait. It seems 36 real people in a server isn't enough to start a game; it waits until reaches 42 before finally giving the countdown.

And then after all that, somewhere between 20 and 45 minutes into play, it'll just crash right back to the desktop; no warning; no error; no issues.  Running Task Manager in the background, watching values and temps, nothing untoward.  It just STOPS.  The I'll rejoin and play for AN HOUR WITH NO PROBLEMS!! I'll stop playing for a break; when I return it adds me to a game, then kicks me out of that game, to the loadout screen. So I wait, knowing well what is going to happen, and 5 - 10 minutes into the next game, it boots me out to desktop again, with again no warning, no error, no problems!  Like I've said I watched things like temps, speeds, RAM usage, everything appears as normal.

I play loads of other games on PC, but it's ALWAYS Battlefield that doesn't work.  Unsurprisingly.

  • And lo and behold, no responses from anyone in EA, because they know they don't have a solution.  It's a 2021 game, probably due to be replaced fairly soon, and frankly they don't care about this problem, even though a lot of people seem to be having exactly the same issue.
