[PC]Servers begin to stutter and "rubberband" after surpassing 75~joined players

Important points:

  • The technical issue I am pointing out is different from the "performance" related stuttering.
  • The technical issue I am pointing out has occurred on every server instance I've played on since Update 1.1.0. It is not an isolated issue. This includes Portal servers.
  • The technical issue I am pointing out is a "server" issue, numerous players complain about the "rubberbanding" when it occurs.

First and foremost, the region these servers are located in, is in South Africa, the servers in South Africa did not experience such "rubberbanding" before 1.1.0.

I have noticed that once the server fills up to roughly 75~+ players, the "rubberbanding" becomes very noticeable. It is almost as though the game is skipping frames and teleporting everything for that split second. When the server is at 128 players, the "rubberbanding" becomes very frequent.

I hope this "server" issue is inspected as it's hindering server performance greatly.

  • While it's possibly server-related, there are numerous technical components between your mouse click and the servers.

    Let's start with your attaching a DXDIAG report to make sure everything's kosher there.

    @DarthFDGIt is definitely server-related. There's no doubt about that. As I said before, many people on the server, experience this "rubberbanding".

    DICE's server telemetry should tell the full story, more so than any other source.

    Furthermore, this only started happening after the 1.1.0 update, as mentioned.

  • Hi @S3SSioN_SoL, can you activate network settings and do a quick recording to see how its looking for you in game.

  • @EA_AticGot quite a lot of rubberbanding and other desynch problems since 1.1. I'm in Eu, on XsX and playing Exodus playlist, so only 64p. My network is OK (tested it and rebooted my router a few times) and never had any problem before.

    Here is the worst example I had, including the network graph (sound desynch wasn't there while playing) showing only when a problem appears.

    Looks like I've got a bit of PL out while everything else is OK. It's very random but looks like it happen mostly on old BF maps in AOW or Portal, not sure it's related to number of players joining because Exposure 128p plays perfectly even when i get this kind of things just the game before. Even had some very weird things in Caspian border like threes or walls appearing/disappearing randomly in places where there's no tree or wall normally. Also had the 3rd person or " blocked inside character view" bug. never had any of this bugs since launch...

    The packed loss would definitely but also just before the packed loss starts you see a different error of unstable network @xXGugusseXx,

    What network set up do you have at home?

  • @EA_Atic Using Wifi (ac) router at home. Got FTTH 500 down/100 up. It looks like everything is back to normal when I played yesterday evening... Maybe my router (or my ISP ?) wasn't happy with the heatwave we have here 🙂

    @EA_Atic If it happens again, I'll try get that recording. It's very sporadic. Generally happens during Peak play time.

    It is unplayable after 50 players. I play and host my own server too in SEA. But while flying the rubberbanding seems to disappear.
