Hey mate, it's a broken EAC update Epic pushed sometime last week. I have almost exactly your system and I couldn't play any EAC games either. What sorta solved the problem for me was moving the game from drive X: to C☹️my windows installation and EAC is also here )
BF42 is still running poorly though and sometimes the game goes to slow motion mode where everyone around me moves normally but I slow down to a craw and when I quit the game sometimes it takes the whole Windows with it. I have to restart my PC solve it.
God I hate *snip* Epic.

Yeah I was kinda expecting to be an EpicGames * up instead of BF. I'm pretty sure there were no updates or hotfixes dropped in the last 3 days to breah the game and it's already a sign that if I can't get past the EAC loading up then for sure it's an issue on their side.
Hope I can get back into the game soon after I'll try your solution. ^^- 4 years ago
That's the thing though, Epic can update EAC completely separately from the games that use it. Basically, when that EAC splash screen is shown, it checks Epic's servers to see if there's a newer version of EAC every time. There's no versioning information attached to the executables, so it's kinda difficult to keep track of exactly when it gets an update.
I've been able to play BF42 for a couple of hours with the fix I mentioned but it's incredible temperamental. Sometimes it just crashes my PC completely. I just left BF42 alone and returned to BF5 until EAC is fixed.
