I had this problem in the beta as well. I'm using an XBox Elite Controller on PC.
I had this issue in the beta. It was extremely frustrating. I had my joystick plugged in and everything neutral but BAM looking at the sky.
In the release the joystick and controller aren't recognized at all but the error also doesn't occur. Really seems like something is wrong with controller setup.
opposite of a couple people here, didn't have this issue in the beta... but now have it on release.. makes no sense.. no idea how this could get by testing.
