Re: Battlefield 2042 Crash mid-game Without Error

Thank you for the updates!

DXGI errors can sometimes point to driver issues. If you haven't already, can you try a clean uninstall and reinstall of your video drivers to test and see if that makes any difference?

    @Digzgothigh

    What happens if you start up your PC in a Clean Boot before you launch BF2042? Does it still crash that way? If there's anything else running that could be connected with the crashes that may help to figure it out.

    You can find more details on how to set up a Clean Boot at the EA Help website. Once you've had the chance to give that a shot please let me know how it goes. Thanks!

  • Hi Kent

    It seems this has been an ongoing issue, Has there been a fix yet as I haven't come across 1.  I've submitted my DXDiag as well. The issue occurs randomly and usually within the first or second match. There has been 1 or 2 instances where I'll receive a "directx function getdeviceremovedreason failed with dxgi_error_device_hung" error message. Most the time the game freezes for a sec, crashes and no message, sometimes my PC will freeze and I'll be forced to terminate the power. I cam across a 97 page forum about this issue where some tweaks worked for some players but for the most part not so much.

    Bump.

    Been having crashes for nearly a week now. 2042 will just randomly CTD. No other issues with PC, just random 2042 crashes. 5 minutes ago, I had just killed a guy and it froze right when I got the kill confirmed and then it CTD. This has been happening mid-game for a while now. I don't think I have intentionally closed the game in the last week I have been playing. This is absolute madness, how it is a year after 2042 release and we're still at * launch stage where the client constantly crashes lol. Do better EA.

    Still having intermittent crashing, now with even poorer performance. After I couldn't get BF stable, I updated everything; BIOS, Hardware drivers, fresh installed GPU driver, eliminated background programs and services, just about everything I could think of but nothing worked. It wasn't until I reverted my GPU overclock that I started getting better stability and a session without a crash. However, that too was short-lived. I am now experiencing freezes that may lead into a crash to desktop, or may lead to a disconnection from the game after being frozen for a few moments. I am at a loss. Is my GPU failing? Is my PC dying?

    I have a i5-12600K I just got to run BF2042, with a RTX 3070 and 32 GB of RAM at 3000mHz. Idk what's happening it should be solid. DxDiag attached.
